Before I was Bitcoin Charlie, I was known as Charlie Checkout for my funny product video reviews almost 10 years ago.

My first start-up I worked for a company Daily Checkout, a website that offered one stellar deal each day to online shoppers. One of the unique aspect of the simple, straight-to-the-point site were the humorous videos which featured the daily deals. Daily Checkout transferred ownership in 2009 as I shifted my efforts to the initial development stage of Bitcoin.

I've made dozens of product videos https://www.youtube.com/user/DailyCheckout/

Simply put, we sell one product every day. If the product runs out, it is over. We have awesome products that we sell at unbelievably low prices and by buying from DailyCheckout you are contributing to the economy. How? Our extremely low prices and fast paced buying and selling goes into a well thought out and really complicated algorithm that was created by our overpaid “Business Development” department. (Notice the quotes)

Some say we are a government agency, and other’s say we’re part of an International conspiracy to take over the world. To be totally honest; we do have a hidden agenda. Our goal is to single-handedly bring the world out of its current financial crisis.

When I realized that I couldn't single-handedly bring the world out of its current financial crisis, I moved full time into Bitcoin.

Steem Commercial

I had a dream last night of reprising my old role as Charlie Checkout and doing a Steem commercial.

What would you like to see me do for a Steem commercial? I will take the most voted idea and make a commercial out of it (keeping it appropriate and legal)

Post your ideas now and vote for your favorite one!

Sort Order:

Shot 1: Charlie sitting in jail: 'bitcoin got me here'
Shot 2: Charlie sitting in a jacuzzi on a yacht surrounded by people celebrating, pouring Dom Perignon all over his body: 'steemit gets me here'.

Pay off / Outro:

  • Where will Steemit get you?

I love this idea!

With money you can buy everything ... That's not the message you should sell Steem with (IMHO) and that's also not what steem investors pay you or anyone else for. Most of them would rather have their own yacht than help you obtain one.

Also, people will associate this with unfairness and probably even scam. Instead show how you can do something useful with it:

  • pay for your kids' school
  • donate money to charity
  • donate food/water

Anything that makes people think .. wow, I can do sth good with steem

I have to agree with you ofcourse, my idea is more emphasizing absurdness and fun and by doing so introducing the name Steemit accross more peoples.

So making fun of the "money" part as i tried to do with my steemboat raffle:

sadly a commercial like this (Yacht etc...) will attract way more speculators/investors/people...
see the most viewed video-clips on youtube for example....

It made me laugh, and also I don't agree Bitcoin sent me to prison.

I think if I were to do something like that, I would focus on someone who writes full times and make an income here. How does that income allow them to live their daily lives.

In case you choose charity - I've been fundraising on Steemit since 2 months and we have recently created the @steemitcharity account that will consolidate the charity posts from different users... And all the money we get will be 100% donated! (no retention fees and other BS:)

Anyways good luck with what you do!

what about SP?

@liondani to your question - SP will accumulate and used to bring us and charity poss more visibility on Steemit

Yeah this one sounds good

That one is good too. I totally see Charlie partying on his yacht like the Wolf of Wall Street. Charlie, you wouldn't do TWO adds by any chance? I'm sure the Winklevoss twins must have a yacht handy, just need to convince them to lend it to you.

I'm glad you're okay!I'm glad you're okay!

AWESOME idea! Way the best until now!

+1
@charliesherm [star] + @roelandp [scrypt] + "Where will Steemit get you?" [slogan] (must be same in all AD spots, due corporate identity)
Check this style for Charlie's AD:

Great idea!

Whatever the end result is, I would hope that there are fog machines involved! Haha
You obviously have to have something that makes steam.

Yes !! Maybe I'll steem up out of like a manhole cover and talk to people

A Steem Genie?

Yes!
I Steem of Genie! featuring @charlieshrem. Good one, @blakemiles84!

Oh how great would that be! Maybe in a Ninja Turtle's outfit? Oops, too far again. haha

Awesome, steamy manhole, that would really give a New York feeling to it. There is good potential playing with the idea of NYC underground (both literally and in reference to the thriving hacking / hactivism / crypto scene) becoming steemy this winter.

Oh wait! Something with an iron. You could be ironing something and then push the steam button on the iron! Ok, maybe that's lame..

Get dressed up like Einstein go to a blackboard and explain to the audience what steem SP and SBD is... holding the Holy whitepaper! When one of your students interrupts you to inform you that one of your posts got to the top of the trending page .... start dancing like crazy with your students! (or something like that)

Earning yourself, help your neighbour.

Just want to make my comment more visible! (it goes up)
But I recognize it is disturbing ...

PS would be awesome we could promote our votes also (like the posts)

lulz.

hmm... you could do a 'starving artist food drive' and go to some hipster coffee shop with typecast hipsters writing stories on steemit trying to earn enough to buy some sort of organic seaweed sandwich.

a bunch of sad, slow-motion photos of them crying while typing, swatting flies away from their coffee cups, sobbing when they look at their one or two upvotes on a 5000 word essay on the difficulties of surviving with a masters degree in 5th Century Norwegian Literature and $100k in student loans :)

I could imagine a spot being like this, but with window washing being replaced by writing articles.

This is gold!

Everyone in the office knows about steemit but you are a vocal skeptic. You make a big fuss that it cannot be real or a scam. You then sneak off to the restroom with your laptop and secretly create a steemit account and make your first post. You come back later to check your account and you find you have make $10,000 dollars on your first post because it was so awesome. You are convinced. You buy bold steemit logo-ed t-shirt, hat and socks with your profits. Throw in some fog on your entrance like @rigaronib mentions. You go and strut around the office in your garb and a steemit logo on your laptop. Everyone throws something at you. You win!!

Hi Charlie,

let's shoot some commercials professionally when we are in Buenos Aires in November! I have a cool professional team there, we made these videos together:

I'd love to, but I dont know if I can make it in November.

Great idea and I can't wait to see what you come up with! My vision for the commercial are all different kinds of people from all walks of life trying to capture steam (because they've heard that it's a way they can find true freedom but they've misunderstood the rumors about what it is). Then you could segue into exactly what Steem is and how they can truly acquire it. Escaping from a cubicle would be an effective element. This is what it's allowing me to do.

Commercial will be huge for steemit.com The right concept is key. Comedy would be fun.

The life of a down-on-luck blogger/writer that finds steemit and changes his life around.

I would like to see you do a video in a busy public space, consisting of you going up to random people and asking them if they know what Steemit is.

You are wearing a Steemit t-shirt, a Steemit hat, and Steemit crocs :P and you explain to the public who are not aware what Steemit is, how it works etc etc.

Like so:

p.s - I see you are 100% in on Steem Power @charlieshrem, a good idea, I think. Me too. :D

I'm thinking Steemlympics. You can video individual competitions, like steam irons going around a fake track. The one with the most steem power wins. You could do the same with model steam trains. So the competitor with the most steem power wins. Therefore in life you must buy STEEM POWER!! I agree that fog machines are a must-have :)

You're a goofy guy lol. I mean that as a compliment. Funny stuff. I think you should reprise your role as Charlie Checkout. Do your usual pitch for a product but cut in the middle of it showing some frustration with the product or how the filming is going and go to your computer and blow off some "steem" and have the fog machine go off with those club lighting and make it like a club while you post on steem lol. Edit that last part like the Harlem Shake lmao!

Steam filling the room... you emerge from the steam and say "like it's filling this room, Steam will soon fill this planet... get onboard now before it's too late" Then dissappear back into the steem...and flas the Steemit logo... cut

Great Post Charlie!

Funny :-)

Commercial about how steemit enable you to go from zero to hero, an internet millionaire

Damn it, I always mistake you for Charlie Sheen and get all excited.

Getting steamed up over traditional social media making money off stealing your info, then getting steemed up and saying fuck the system.

Lol. You crack me up.

Closeup shot of laptop screen, with Steemit post being written. Closeup of your eyes, squinting, showing all the hard work you're putting into the content. The clickety clack of keystrokes.

Shot from behind your head, laptop screen in view. Cut to closeup of Steem logo, cut to post title, cut to extreme closeup of potential payout. Cut to your face, Popeye style pipe in your mouth, or maybe a vaporizer, with a little "steam" rolling out. Cut back to payout, increasing. Cut back to your face, a little grin and then more "steam" from the pipe. Repeat.

Cut to final payout, then your face. You let out a little Popeye "gug gug gug" laugh, and blow some "steam" from the pipe, as a train whistle blows.

Or something like that.

Great post and Im excited what content you will provide on your blog in future! I would vote for technical product reviews and or online products. Best Regards from germany! Jonas Ahrens - Internetmarketing

Good one dude Mdr!!

Interesting post once again. Thank you!

awesome post and video

Sarcasticly sell the "post on steemit and get rich quick" narrative. Make a second anonymous account. Make all the mistakes new users make... Plagiarizing, worthless content, begging for attention and ultimately "it's not fair" rants and show new users how ineffective those are. Then post something of value and show it earning. Obviously make it humorous lol.

That or explain how steemit/steem/SP/SBD works through interpretive dance, sock puppets, etc.

Shaving your head couldn't hurt ;-)

How about sitting in an actual steem room, wearing a towel , with Dan and Ned , all dreaming about your success , and all that steem your making! Lol! 😂

Nice stuff.

"as I shifted my efforts to the initial development stage of Bitcoin."

aHA I knew you'd slip up one of these days - Satoshi confirmed
;)

  • Charlie reads a pout about how to become a steemillionaire
  • step 1: introduce your self (post makes 3000 SBD)
  • step 2: realizes he can write about anything.
  • step 3 - eating a pennsylvania pretzel and realizes he could review the pretzel ($10000 Sbd)
  • step 4 watches some people build a home and blogs about it ($20000).
  • step 5 sees people spraying graphitti and gets the idea to write a post about graphitti (1 million dollars.)

Nice post. You have got my upvote.

Ohh the cringe level of this video! , I almost died

Nice
I want to try buy steem

Yes.. Great steem

@charliesherm Those videos are great! Wish I was creative/witty enough to think up an idea for you. I like the idea @roelandp had though. That would be hillarious.

Just happened to remember that my friends made this funny video years ago, where they read some Austrian economics book and play background music.

You could do something similar. Recite the holy words of @dan in dramatic fashion, from the whitepaper or some blog post. Have somebody to play background music. Maybe add some cool/weird clothes. Make the audience to shout "amen" and "hallelujah" every now and then.
