This is how much can you make from curating content on Steemit

Curation is one of the main incentives for buying and powering up Steem, but how much can you really make from Curation? Well, I will put forward my stats so that investors can get an idea of what they will get in return.

It is important to state that I use Steemvoter as a tool to vote for my favorite writers, I usually vote them after 27 minutes of their post, but for some popular writers I try to get in early in the 15-20 minute mark. I also vote manually and this is what usually makes a difference. However, my curation strategy has not gone through great deal of thought, so you could say that my stats can show what a “normal” Steemian could make by voting content.

  • Total Steem Power: 37,500
  • Weekly Curation Reward Avg: 67 Steem
  • Estimated Yearly Curation Reward: 3,216
  • Yearly ROI: 8.57%

That is not a bad ROI for “doing what I do for free” on other social networks. I think this is a strong selling point for Steem.

I have about 11500 SP, but 2300 is delegated. I do some automatic voting, but a lot of manual. I do it to reward others rather than with an eye on my own rewards. I make 10 to 12 SP per week from curation.

I may delegate more as I want to see more minnows earning.

Love what you doing to make a difference.

Love what you doing to help others

My weekly average is 15-20 steem of curation rewards without using steemvoter. I guess yearly ROI should be around 8%. Whale with 500k steem power would earn 40k extra steem just by curating. Very nice numbers for anyone thinking of becoming a steem whale. With a huge possibility of price of steem going up with 8% of ROI buying steem sounds even better.

Awesome Chitty! Thanks very much for this; and also thanks for the Steemvoter link, I am so behind on these things. I hadn't even heard about it; I'm off to check it out right this second! :-)

No probs old friend!

So is it a separate log in then? I thought it would be linked to Steemit, no?

Cg

Its a separate service, make sure to log in with your posting key, altho it is run by a respected member of the community.

Ah I just tried logging with my posting key, maybe I made a mistake; I'll try again.

Cg

Sorry, I explained myself wrong, you make an account with normal different key, then you add your steemit account with your posting key.

Aha I see! I thought you meant that, but just wanted to clarify :-)

Thanks again!

I am not doing much actually... but I wish there was a way to dynamically take my SP and use it like... at the end of the day... for something I could choose...

Then I could evaluate within 7 days that allocation.. and rectify if needed.

I am only 3200 SP (with 1000 delegated) but I think many will recon what I am trying to say.

One of my weak points in Steemit is my curation returns. I have played around with steemvoter, especially while traveling, and I haven't really been happy with the results. So, 90% of the time, I am a manual curator. I attempt to find a balance between roi and helping others who are creating great content. It's a difficult balance to aim for and I'm certain I'm off the mark most of the time.

in the beginning I voted for everyone , now I'm starting to realize it's a waste unless I vote for those articles and content writers then I like to read and they provide good information all the time . I may not be able to get to them all the time but they deserve the vote . I'm going to starting using the Steem voter . It's nice to see how you're doing great things for the community

How much are you putting in ?

Its stated on the post: 37,500 Steem Power.

I think its important to point out that the Steem Power that you "put in" remains yours and it doesn´t depreciate like a mining equipment would. That alone makes Steem a great investment!

Not bad but not very profitable.

I really need to do some reading up on exactly how curation works but I have noticed rewards for it so can only be a good thing. Is it fair to say if you are actively contributing upvoting and making valuable comments then it should take care of itself?

Yes, as long as you keep voting it will add up.

Thanks for turning this into a blog post. information is sure to come in handy, but more than that, it gives me great confidence to know your hard work is being the useful.

Great post :) if u want u can look at my last video:

I haven't quite figured out how often and when is best to upvote but it is good to know what is possible with more steem power.

I have only a few SP but still love reading others articles esp that that have been on steemit for longer than 1 year.

0.0001 lol

I can't say exactly how much I make from curating, but I do love the fact that Steemit has such a great balance that there is an incentive to do both curating and posting. Whenever I feel I have a writing block I just curate and vice versa. It keeps the network spinning . You are doing a great job !

Thanks for this insight. I do totally manual voting and have looked into some of the automatic voting and I am not comfortable with a lot of that yet. I am sure I just need to look into it further.

good

Currently making around $55-$60 a week :-) in curation

Thanks for your explanation, I like your post

honestly i dont know what you talking about ( i'm just discovering steemit)
but good job

This is great news. Well done!

i make little or nothing but i wish to do

And I just try to keep up with 10 votes. I have no special curatorship, and I do not worry about them.

with 5,7k: ±10SP per week (voting with a bot)

It's ok as long as I earn, it doesn't matter how much it would cost. I'm thankful to steemit and to my fellow steemians who give time to explain and share info like this. Thanks @chitty

I doesnt "cost" you anything, the Steem Power remains yours.

I see. Thanks @chitty! Done up voting.

That is Great ROI such a cool use of Steem power 8.57 for this example is not bad at all its incredible indeed but i would like to know is it necessary to upvote right at the 27 minute mark i read it in the FAQ's of the Steemit :)
