How to fund my steem account?

Fresh perspective from a new user

Hey everyone!
I'm amazed by the progress the platform is going through right now. It's very exciting and I hope to make it my new home. Now, I have some money to pitch in but when I go in my wallet...I'm having a hard time figuring out how to fund my account. Can I do so via openledger?

If someone has a video or a tutorial on how to easily do this, please let me know!

You can buy Steem on two exchanges currently: Bitshares (https://bitshares.openledger.info) or Bittrex. On Bitshares you need to buy OPEN.STEEM, which can be transferred to your Steem account. However, the easiest and fastest way currently is probably to buy Steem Power directly from Blocktrades (they also sell Steem). This means they transfer the Steem directly your account in the vesting form, which is what gives you voting power and protects you from inflation.

THANKS! but then how do I send steem from my openledger account to my steem account?

Make sure to test with small amounts first.

[EDIT]
I don't know any easier way but right clicking in the image and then"open image in new tab" shows the image enlarged.

*It's actually much easier than this! Blocktrades.us deposit directly into my steem account! *

Do you know if the number that pops up is the number to which I should direct the cryp-coins - or must I change it for other number and which one would that be?? Txs.

Is there an official notice or sticky somewhere for purchasing the right thing on the Bitshares market?
I already see 3 entries in the bitshares client for Steem - STEEM, STEEM-DOLLAR, and OPEN-STEEM, and would like to verify those are all official accounts. I ask because anyone can pay the fee and create a market asset, and STEEM and STEEM-DOLLAR were created by Dan, while the one you recommend was created by OpenLedger-wallet.

OPEN.STEEM is the only one with an active market (vs BTS and vs OPEN.BTC) and a withdrawal service. If you want to use Bitshares, stick to that one.

I'm new to Steem as well. I purchased some on Bittrex today. I'm trying to send it to my steemit.com account. It asks for "Registered Acct". Do I use my screenname (greenman81) or one of the addresses from the "Permissions" area?

The account name, greenman81

The permissions are what the name suggests. Not addresses, but different keys for different purposes:
Owner - when you control this key, you can change all the other keys. Should be kept in cold storage.
Active - Can do anything, except changing the owner key
Posting - Can post, nothing else
Memo - Used to en-/decrypt messages

Each key consists of two parts. The one starting with STM is known to everyone, the private key 5... is your secret.

Cool. Thanks for the prompt feedback!

Thanks for this information!

It is easiest to buy via bittrex right now.
