How to Transfer STEEM From Poloniex to Steemit.com [GUIDE]

in steem •  8 years ago  (edited)

poloniex

Poloniex is one of the largest crypto exchanges at the moment and is also one of the places where STEEM and Steem Dollars or SBD is being actively traded. By purchasing and transferring any of these two tokens to your steemit.com wallet you are able to convert them to STEEM POWER thus further increasing your influence on the website and earning more for your actions.

STEEM is currently beeing traded at about 0.00436 BTC
SBD or Steem Dollars is being traded lower at about 0.001295 BTC

Do note that while Steem Dollars are cheaper the conversion from SBD to STEEM is not 1:1, but is more like 1:4, so essentially it is not cheaper to upgrade your STEEM POWER by purchasing them. Furthermore when you decide to transfer Steem Dollars to STEEM you will have to wait 1 week for the process to take place while STEEM can be immediately turned to STEEM POWER.

Once you purchase some STEEM or SBD from Poloniex yo uneed to go to DEPOSITS & WITHDRAWALS and click on the Withdraw link on the right side of your STEEM Balance.

You will see a window with 3 different fields - Address, Memo and Amount. these you need to fill in with the required information in order to successfully transfer the STEEM coins to your steemit.com account and wallet.

  • In the field Address you need to write your steemit.com username
  • In the field Memo you need to paste the steemit.com public Memo key, you can find it under your Profile page, Permissions. The MEMO public key should start with STM...
  • In the field Amount you need to type the amount of coins you want to send to your wallet
  • As a final step just press the Withdraw button and shortly the STEEM should be available in your steemit.com account, you can then use the Power Up function in the wallet to transfer STEEM to STEEM POWER should you wish to do so...

Thanks, didn't find this info elsewhere.

i agree, this post help me withdraw my STEEMs from Bittrex, i think storing steems here is safe

Not only that, its makes sense cause you earn more with it here.

@yasserkhacha @leggy23In Bittrex it's asking for tag and address so I suppose tag is equivalent to memo in Bittrex ?
please advise

I am pretty sure that entering your public memo key in the memo field on Poloniex is not necessary to successfully complete the transaction.

I don't get it what did he mean steemit user name on the address field. Can you get me an example? in your case would be zcgolf16 ? or @zcgolf16 ? or the whole url?

In my case, it would be zcgolf16 in the address field.

ok that is so simple I couldn't believe it. Big Thanks! :D

You can also use something to help you remember where the transfer was sourced from or purpose of the transfer.

What is the utility of the memo field ?

Much needed info, should work on all other exchanges to. I just transferred from Livecoin without a hitch...

Thanks - Just used this and it is working fine :)

Thank you! Was looking for info on how to do this and you answered my question!

Glad the post was helpful. :)

Just asked the same Q. (Great live Q& A show Jeff 15/5)!

Always keep coming back to this every time I forget, thank you endlessly :)

thank you! very helpful post, as i have forgetten how to withdraw.

OMG thank you so much. I just did it and it worked in like a minute. i initially tried with a blocktrades memo address and that was a nightmare. i thought i lost my steem for good...

It answered my question I have been looking for the whole morning. I had hard time to figure it out by looking through my steemit account. Thanks!

Thank you for this tutorial, was very useful and simple to follow! :)

@cryptos there is no need to add share public memo key in memo field. I tried without it and it worked smoothly.

Very helpful post, perhaps steemit should add an official guide somewhere in 'wallet' section. I had trouble with this for several days. Thanks for this post @cryptos !

Very usefull

make a transfer of hitbtc to steemit I have been waiting 2 days for your confirmation and still not specified, is this normal?

Thank you very much. I will be using this information to receive STEEM from my converted mining rewards

Should I include the "@" sign of my username in the the Address field of Poloniex or not? Thank you.

DO NOT USE @ and DO NOT USE CAPITAL LETTERS

@nicnas, Thank you.

Should it just be your USERNAME: thinksalot or steemit.com/thinksalot Sorry OCD..

I'm a newbie and this post totally helped me find my way around the wallet. Thanks @cryptos.

Many thanks! I am new to steem, this is my first coment... Wanted to move my STEEM on exchange to my steem account. This really helped me transfer my steem. I was not able to find anything on google...

Thanks. I needed this information.

Nice tutorial. Upvoted.

Thanks Cryptos ! This was helpful. It says "Withdrawal would exceed your daily withdrawal limit. Please raise your verification level on your profile page to raise your limit." Not sure how to do this ?

You need to provide more information to the exchange (here Polonoex) as asked. In order to withdraw/deposit more, almost all the exchanges have 2-3 tiers of verification . More the level includes more of your personal details like address , Passport ID etc., to be shared to them.

Thank you for posting this I never would think to enter my username. Thank you peace!

Awesome my friend! I did it...all under your instruction. Big MAHALO!! Shakaaa!

Thank for sharing

I just put steem username & amount but hours later and it still says "Pending" on Poloniex. Should i cancel or does it usually take a while?

@ecasey77 how did you fix this as I just did mine on poloniex and it is still pending?

Thank you for this!

Very helpful!! Unless of course poloniex steem wallet is down...like it is now haha. Will buy steem directly through the steemit next time to avoid the headache.

Great. Thanks to you I got my steem out of polo's clutches. This story was actually useful. Now how the hell do I upvote you? I am not paying you anything for this.

I figured it out. You have been upvoted.

thank you for the info unfurtuntly for me poloniex disable withrwal of steem

Thanks, ive just used it to make my first transfer.

I'm late to this party and just started using Steemit but I can't say thank you enough for this post. I have bookmarked it and will share this with new users who may have the same question.

Thanks for the informative tutorial...

Too bad can not upvote older articles, I would have upvoted this. Thanks for posting the correct details.

Thanks! Been looking for a way to transfer steem to a wallet.

I needed this.
Thanks

Helped me today.....

This info should be in the FAQ section. Thank you writing this up

Great post, thank you.

Very helpful @cryptos ! Thank you. You just saved me a ton of time as I was getting no where trying to figure out how to get my Steem off of Poloniex and into my Steemit account. Appreciate the post.

When you write your steemit username in the address field is it, steemit.com/username or just your username?

For example, mine is pierrewerner, so it is, steemit.com/pierrewerner or pierrewerner or @pierrewerner ???

Just the username with nothing extra, in your case it will be just: pierrewerner

Thank you @crytos I bought 49 steem and transferred 19 just to see what happens and to educate myself with the process.

No problem, glad the guide helped someone.

Thanks!!

that was really helpfull. thank a lot.

Thank You! very helpful

Worked like a charm!!

Very helpful @cryptos upvoted this :)

It works! Thanks for the info, very helpful indeed.

Is there a code you can post like bitcoin where anyone can copy and paste and send steem? Can you send steem directly to other users without Poloniex?

Yeahp you can, just using the wallet

@cryptos
Thanks, very helpful

I see 4 STM keys, which one should I use please? TIA

Just did this to send my Genesis Mining payouts to Steemit. Thanks for the post. Worked fine.

what if we forgot to mention memo?

This was huge help! I created a similar article for Bittrex. In it, I directly mentioned and linked to your/this post. Thanks again for writing this!

How to Deposit STEEM into Your Steemit.com Account Wallet: A Bittrex Walkthrough.

Thanks for sharing this!

this was great!! I was able to use this method to transfer funds from Polo! Thanks!!!

Thank You! This is an old post but Steemit still hasn't updated their info. Good work!

Thanks cryptos, I had no idea how to manage that. very helpful

Very good blog. Same mindset here. The future is in blockchain. Crypto prices might be inflated now but the market will find it's way just like it did with the Internet boom. We do need more indept investment analysis. I found this amazing platform: https://www.coincheckup.com This site is really helpful in my coin research. I don't know any other sites with so much indepth analysis.

thank you!

I go to profile page, permissions and I see 4 public keys.( posting, active, owner, memo) Which one should I look for?

You'll want to use the bottom one, the Memo Key. Don't click the 'show private key' button, just use the one it shows when you open the page...you want the public Memo Key (which will start with STM).

Worked like a charm! Thank you for this. I appreciate the help!

Thanks, very helpful indeed.

thank you! it worked out just fine...and fast!

THANK YOU!!! I knew there had to be a way!! YEAHHH!!!!

I love how easy I could find what I was looking for :) Well explained!

Thank you! I transfered Steem today and powered up

Thank you very much for the post @cryptos ! Really helped me a lot!

Thank you. A perfect answer to a question I was posing. I'll be able to post you Steem power now!

Thank you so much! I have been struggling with this big time! 🙌🏻😁

Thanks for the guide, I had to google the process of withdrawing from an exchange to the steemit account and your guide was on the first place. It's a bit unfortunate that the procedure is so un-intuitive, but I decided to move my Steem here to learn by doing and using it instead of trading it.

Even with 282 votes this article earned only 3 cents whereas the first one liner generic comment made 45 times more earning. Sigh!!

thanks - this is very clear and helpful
