STEEM FEED IS USELESS, INEQUALITY REIGNS SUPREME

I might not be a degree holder, but i have more than made up it by studying hard on matters of life and the society.

the topic at hand

Continuing with my discuss a few days ago, i find it funny that besides the attempts that things will be stable after a while, i doubt thats the case.

I feel very strongly that

steemit is a social experiment to create millionaires out of whales at the expense of marrows and all other people.

Look at that chart up there, it comes from a well know steemit site

[steemwhales.com]

It shows in clear simple view the distribution of funds, reps and influence that all members of steemit has.
I leave yall to guess which sectnol owns 75% of steemit.

This chart gives a clearer representation about the grim fate of any steemer who thinks he's gonna make it big here.

  • Less than 1 % holds 75% of steemit?! Even the zipf law would bow to this order of messed-up-ness

THE USELESS FEED

For this one i use a simple example. I know many of you like this dude but sentiments aside, whats his deal?
I mean he posts pics of chickens and other boring things while people rack their brains to create contents that never see the light of day. Im talking of cause about @papa-pepper
Each post of his easily hits $200 and above with a mass of followers commenting on how 'cute' the chickens are or some other unimportant details.

If he craps and shares, im betting a lot of steemers will upvote on how "cute" it looks.

I cant blame them though. Majority want a "favour" a resteem of post or an upvote(which sadly many will never see).
He got his entire family dubbed (the pepper family) up on steemit and uses his influence to bring them up to speed in reps &cash (expect mama pepper) .

Dont get me wrong, he's a great guy, but if steemit is about "real" content, then his posts should fetch little to no money while the artists, musicians, and other hardworking members should be making it big.

This leads me to my hypothesis that the feed is useless.
Simply get a whale as your mentor and you're pretty much in for a major cash inflow.

I create contents for discuss, not just to be a pain.
I ask thought provoking questions.

Next time, im talking about the bandwagon effect, and why you need to get that followship!

You make some good points here, thanks for the post.

Ya, glad you liked it.

The distribution in Bitcoin is worse, top 1% holds 97% of coins, and in Fiat it's way worse, top 1% holds 99% of wealth.

The distribution here has been slowly correcting downward.

Ya, i didnt want to even mention bitcoin, we shout financial freedom!! everywhere but whats freedom without equality? Or rather equity?
Another reason why i focused on steem was because steem postioned itself to be different!

Steem is being different. I don't see what your issue is.

Well the issue is the difference between your rep and mine and how much leverage it grants you. Simply put, u could post a one line greeting and people will still swarm over and upvote, i could post a research paper and no one bats an eye.

Well that's how the world works. I posted for no reward for a long time. Then small rewards for a long time. I invested in this site when nobody cared both with my time and a little bit of outside money. I give away a bunch of money for nothing that my posts earn rather than keeping it all to my self. You just joined this month. You have to prove your worth before it will be recognized. Your comment sounds like, I just started working, why am I not CEO yet?

It's not about slowly working your way to the top with quality posts. It's clear you post meaningful content @justtryme90, but there are tons of shitposters.

I also joined this month, but just scrolling through the new threads all I see is "100 followers", "daily photo contest"! Each of those threads gets 50 responses in an hour, while this post will struggle to get 50 responses in a week (nor should it). Fortunately most of those wont ever break into a true following, but doesn't the amount of junk blogs destroy the purpose of meaningful Steem content? Especially when this behavior is nurtured by shitposting whales?

At this stage the distribution of steem out to the masses is basically the most important thing. You want the wild rewards to calm down, make the little votes worth more and the big votes worth less. (This is what the next hardfork does). The quality of visible good content will only be as good as the interests of the people doing the voting, and a factor of how dispersed voting power is. It's why I give power away through my own account and through my projects account. I think (I don't know for sure) that this is a solution and a good way forward.

If people value blogs begging for followers, and silly posts, who am I to say that they are junk? In the eyes of the community they aren't. Dont like it? Want to fix it? Get a bigger community.

The introduction of community sub sections may also help and is planned for release soon (ish).

Jolly good job sirs!, just wanna say thanks for taking the time to join in the discuss.
Im not here to hurt steemit and my posts will most likely end with a message to build the steem.

dont you think that next hard fork will re-balance the power?

Hell no, i wasn't on steem during the last hardfork, but i was watching intensely, i have actually been watching steem for a while, since febuary! The last hardfork caused a little panic, but the whales voted themselves back to the top

(thats why my previous post mentioned some elites i feel are around)
