Did something just happen to the price feed or was there a front end change?

Edit: Seems to be fine now. This post can be ignored.

My "Estimated Account Value" dropped over $50,000.

I don't see any good reason for this to happen, the price has been consistently above $2 for 3 days. Anyone know what's going on?

Now it is fine

jup got money back, time for a good weekend i guess ;)

My friends and I also discovered this problem. It's so strange because the price of Steem does not drop. Is Steem Power has the same value as Steem? And I also notice that the Steem power in the bracket is gone, does Steemit take the borrowed SP back?

I suspect that the /transfers display logic has been updated. I don't think the feed itself was broken.

Pending payouts remained the same and they also directly use the feed. So it must just be a display issue.

Mine looks ok.

See top comment, and my edit. It's fine now.

Yes you are right
30% value drop
It si so strange
Thanks for sharing

I looked earlier today and the value was over $2000, I was pretty proud. Now I checked again and the value is just over $1800. Seem like something happened these last few hours!

The actual price has not dropped but the witness feed seems to be messing up perhaps.

48 minutes since my original comment my account is now back upto $2440. I am proud of myself again.

Strange the Steem price it self just goes up...

Just checked my value also dropped 30% :(

Your value is fine. It is just displaying incorrectly, it seems.

i also noticed that . but i thought i needed to have my coffee

I see! Mine went down quite a bit aswell. No idea why.

I don't pay too much attention to that figure as it always lags behind current prices. Steemwhales is more accurate these days.

That's true, however the price feed is pretty systemically important to Steem.

Thankfully the price feed itself doesn't seem to be the issue.

I dropped from $1700 to $1100

Same here !

Upvoted and resteemed !

Thank you !

Yeah my value was pushing $90.00 last night, this morning it's currently $67.16 looks like I won't be telling the boss where to stick his job today then? ;-)

This is true .. there is a drop :(

Same here huge drop in estimated value. I think its because of the 30% value drop about 5 days ago. We have x amount of steem and its worth x amount of fiat :) i didnt loose 50k

Isn't the price feed only 3.5 days now though? In that case 5 days ago should be outside of the window.

estimated value is based on the average price of steem over the last 7 days.

It used to be that but was changed to 3.5

do you know when was the change?

Hard fork 18, I think.

yes

was gonna check steemd if anything there would show any signs of why, but seems to be down currently, for anyone else too?

It seems like the feed itself is fine, because nothing has happened to pending payouts (which are also directly from the feed). I am guessing there is some change to the display logic.

steemd.com is up for me.

That is what I believe to be the case as the $ value is calculated on the average price over the last seven days.

Estimated Account Value was fixed, now it is fine

Yeah, i felt that little tremor...

Same thing happened with me, it dropped from 1700$ to 1400$

same here

Nice bucks you got there mate :D

I saw a dip and a correction as well @demotruk so no fears . . . you are a wealthy man still good sir! STEEM On !!

What happens if you power down? (sorry, newbie here)

Over a period of 13 weeks your Steem Power is released as Liquid Steem, which you can transfer and sell.

Very strange....checking it out.

See my edit and the top comment. Issue is resolved.

I think you should rather be concerned with the quantity of your steem, steem dollars or steem power. That is what should matter most as the price can change any time.

This is a technical issue. The price didn't drop.

Your probably right but I don't like seeing issues like this. Especially when it money that is involve here.

You may be right. I was only saying so long as the quantity of steem, sbd or sp in the account is not affected, everything will be alright.

Sure. I was concerned about the possibility of a problem with the price feed. That could indicate an attack on the network. However it doesn't seem to be the case.

Okk thanks for the explanation. By the way . I guess you are one of the whales here. would you ever consider resteeming my post? I ventured into writing fiction. I would want some publicity. You can read my first fiction here. The part 2. https://steemit.com/fiction/@richguy/the-beautiful-conductor-a-fiction-part-2

No, I'm sorry but I can't respond to requests for upvotes or resteems. In the future I plan to have a solution so that people can request my attention to their articles, but I haven't even started on it yet.

Thank you I will wait for such a time.

I have the same problem, as I am new here , I don't know is the power just go back to a normal level (before ~75.00) or there is a glitch...

This doesn't really tell you the exact value. Use steemwhales instead, I find it closer to the truth.

I usually don't check my account balance. I guess I have to start doing that anytime I login.
Thanks for this observation @demotruk.
