Why is the internal market so dead?

I seem to be one of the few remaining sellers on the internal market (my order is currently at 0.48 SBD so outside of what's visible on this screenshot.

No volume, no sell orders. Yet as a seller, I do manage to sell my Steem from time to time well above market price. I would have expected the internal market to be more popular especially with those doing SBD convert requests since you don't need to step through Bitcoin and pay fees on two exchanges (indeed the internal market is completely without fees).

Would it be fair to say "Nobody is on the internal market => it's not attractive to trade on the internal market => nobody is on the internal market"?

I am using it, but I probably just don't know any better. I still find the bitcoin exchanges intimidating.

I'm not using it much at the moment. I'm powering up my Steem and saving up some SBD for potentially buying some goods. I've traded some small amounts in the past, but it never seems to be that busy

The internal platform is not user friendly in my opinion.
I have used and tried many different exchanges for alt coins and bitcoin. This setup is not very good.

This would be a better explanation if it had not been more popular in the past. User friendliness hasn't changed, but users have left along with liquidity.
