Without a doubt, things here are not as they were, even a few months ago.
In a way, this reminds me a bit of a distant Steem of the past. Content discovery was a bit of a "treasure hunt;" there were acres and acres of self-promoted copy-pasta and what we used to call "thin content" back in the days of early social blogging (pre-Facebook)...
But every now and then, there would be treasures.
Excellence was a treat, rather than a standard.
Times change. There's an old truism that goes something like "Change with the times, or perish." Some would argue that the bold and the brave are the ones who change and adapt.
I'm not always so sure.
As I wrote elsewhere, a few weeks back... "sometimes the bravest thing you can do is to NOT move."
Of course, that's just my own personal perception... as someone who doesn't much care for change, and tends to resist it until it becomes almost inevitable.
I suppose that resistance is manifesting at the moment, as I have not quite headed for the exit on this project we call Steem.
I'm a content creator, above other things. Decentralization is a nifty ideal... and perhaps something we should strive towards, but it is also an experiment. I like being part of that experiment, in its many forms... because I am curious about the way human systems work, but NOT so much as a "political or philosophical statement."
My curiosity doesn't necessarily have an allegiance; it simply exists, as curiosity.
I don't blame or judge those with allegiances... to their finances, to their freedoms, to their philosophical leanings, to their politics.
As always, thanks for reading!
