On Sharing My YouTube Videos on Steemit (and Some Long-held Questions about Dtube)

Is that not what the DTC token sale was for?

nope. the DTC token sale was a fundraiser for dtube. From dtube's posting RE how they plan to use the $100,000 from the token sale:

Legal compliance, Terms & Conditions, utility token legal opinion: $40,000
Exchange fees for 2 IEO rounds: $40,000
Marketing boost: $20,000

The "exchange fees" is money that will be used to pay an exchange to list the dtube token . Dtube token is just its own crypto that will (once it is listed on another exchange) be able to be traded independently of Steem, and which Dtube plans to use to reward videos. Its "utility" is that to post on the dtube's own chain, users will have to hold some of the dtube token - and the distribution of the token will function similarly to Steem, where users that hold more of the dtube token can reward more dtube tokens to other users when they upvote. You could also use burn the token to promote your post, or access premium content. But it has nothing to do with storing your video, all videos uploaded to dtube are deleted after a few months (unless you are lucky enough to be one of the people they consider a "star" or whatever they call it, they pick a handful of people to give max upvotes to and dtube keeps their videos around longer). But for the vast majority of users, dtube deletes the videos after a few months. Go back and check any old dtube uploads you have done (if any) - it will look like the video player is still there, but when you click it there will be no video to play.

Thank you, @carlgnash. Very helpful!
Those receiving "max upvotes", is that who I see on the home screen of Dtube with thousands of DTC and over a million upvotes? Does this mean all these upvotes aren't from a million different people?
Yes, I did go back and check my videos. You're right. Just a green when trying to play them.

Beats me. I wasn't paying attention to that...
