Dear Brand New User - Right now there is only 34350 Steem left for sale on #Bittrex exchange. People who discovered #Steemit also discovered that #Steempower is more valuable then the steem itself, and this creates quite a unique situation for the social crypto currency.
The Creators
@ned & @dan must have really taught this out, because it is absolutely working - the demand for steem to convert to steempower is sky-high, and every steem locked into steempower will not be back on the market again until at least two years later.
So what does this mean?
It means that the Demand for Steem is much larger then the Supply of Steem - and Steempower is the fuel your steemit-account need to make you visible and powerful around here, and with hordes of new bloggers coming to steemit from all kinds of centralized places, communities, media and forums to be part of the social media revolution the demand only grows and grows.
What about the Steem Dollar?
The Steemdollar, or steem-backed-dollar (SBD) is actually worth $1.60 right now - it was supposed to be about a dollar, but with all this demand for all things steemit - it too is going up in value.
The "Whales" cannot dump
Since the biggest whales on steemit has their steem locked into steempower, there is no way for them to dump the price down, making it a bull-case until ... forever?
Steemit did what no crypto-currency has managed to accomplish
No other crypto-currency, including Bitcoin has never managed to aquire mass-adoption, they have all been attracting tech-savvy people and some capital - but never the masses of women and men from the non-technical part of the Internet as steemit now does.
Even my Wife is on steemit, and I have never been able to get her into any crypto before
and guess what - she is telling all of her friends about steemit, and they are all opening accounts coming in from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Weebly, 4Chan, Reddit, Google+ and everywhere else.
So what can you do to make steem, steemdollars and steempower for yourself?
Well, the best thing you can do is to #1: Upvote articles like this one and good comments, you get rewarded for that and #2: Create great original content that people want to read, you will get rewarded for that as well.

I wish you the best of fortune and hope this post helped you a lot
You are absolutely correct. Steem Power does have more value than Steem.
Steem doesn't earn interest. But Steem Power does.
