Thats not an easy question :)
I will give my best to explain it:
If you look into the steem whitepaper you can see that in the long run round about 10% of the steem plus steempower is redistributed to posters and to curators per year with posters getting 50% and curators 50%. Currently we are still in the initial starting phase of steem, so the inflation currently is round about 1% per day instead of the target 100% per year. 90% of the new generated steem goes to the steempower holders as new steempower.
For example if you have currently 100 steempower you get currently 0.9 new steem power per day. 0.5 steem is redistributed to posts 0.5 as curation rewards. So in theory you can redistribute 0.5 steem per day to new posts, with currently one steem worth 3 to 4 dollars this is round about 2 dollars per day. So theoretically in this example if you upvote one post per day the upvoted post should get round about 2 dollar.
Why in theory, because in reality its not that simple.
If I remember right 25% of the post rewards goes to comments on the post. Also the more you vote the more your voting power is decreased. Currently it needs round about 5 days to be fully recharged.
Also steem does currently not distribute the payout linear. Posts that have many upvotes / steem power behind them, are currently rewarded a lot more.
You could see that easily, just upvote one post that has already a lot dollars as payout and you will see, that the payout amount is increasing much more faster then if you up-vote an new post without any votes yet.
Why is this so? Because the steem inventors wanted to reduce the amount what people get that only vote for them-selfs. In case of an linear distribution one could simply vote for oneself and get the new steem.
Should I up-vote now the posts that get already lot of dollars?
I would say no, except if its a really really good post. Posts with lot of dollars on it are already very visible and get lots of reward. In away there is not much use that they get even more reward. Also you will not get many cu-ration rewards for up-voting already posts that get already many dollars.
I for my part try only to upvote posts that i really really like, or posts that are good and relative new. The hole idea is to find new good posts and make them more visible through up-voting them. If others happen to follow your vote, you will get cu-ration rewards for helping good content to be visible and therefore helping steem to evolve.
But don't forget that in the first 30 minutes of a new post you will get only a part of your cu-ration reward so better search posts that are at least 15 minutes old if you want to have some curation rewards.
Back to the question with currently 1% steem inflation per day you need round about:
0.01 / 4 (current steem dollar price) * 1/1%(current inflation per day) * 2 steempower = 0.5 steempower
to distribute in average 1 cent per day if you happen to vote once a day.
In reality voting power does not decrease linear, so to distribute 0.5 steem per day you have to vote more then once a day...
In my experience I happen to see an increase of 0.2 cent after my upvote, even if the post is new and does not have any upvote yet. With currently around 600 steempower in my account that leads to 0.1 cent per 300 steem.
But as said it depends if others have already voted for the post. For posts with already lot of votes my vote can increase the payout up to 10 dollars or even more.
As aid not that simple question :)
Wish you happy steeming!

YOU GET 1% OF YOUR STEEM POWER EVERYDAY, FOR EXAMPLE : I HAVE ABOUT 700 STEEM POWER SO I GET 7 STEEM POWER A DAY AND 2 OR 1 CENT WHEN I UPVOTE DEPENDS ON MY STEEM POWER PERCENTAGE AND WHEN I UPVOTED.
