I'm just new to this platform and this is already too much information for me to process right now. I know I'm not the only newbie here and so In a nutshell, can someone explain if it will benefit new users like me or is this just for the season bloggers on steemit?

Long term what will benefit you is engaging in the community, making great posts yourself and trying not to get drawn into all the bullcrap and butthurt. There are corners of Steem that are the most amazing places, but unfortunately, they are just the corners - sometimes harder to find but worth the search.
