Steem Consensus Witness Statement: Code Updated

in steem •  5 years ago  (edited)

Protecting the chain is great. Happy to see we stand up for ourselves. But one question: how about freedom? steemyoda? systema? whatever other account that “isn’t” made clear officially steem inc’s stake?

Just because it’s not official doesn’t mean they aren’t any threat.

Unfortunately, we do not have enough information about accounts like the ones you mention and can only go on what we know with regard to account ownership. It would be reckless to speculate on ownership in that way.

We only included accounts known to be owned by Steemit and that showed specific actions. And it was only Steemit Inc. that mined their stake for the explicit purposes that they had elucidated to the community on multiple occasions. Other miners made no public commitments/promises about how their stake would be used, nor were they privy to the initial launch times and complete configurations.

In other words - only the accounts and entity in question could be proven to 1) own the “ninja-mined” stake and 2) have placed public obligations on themselves regarding how the stake was to be used.

Thanks for the explanation.
