"Steemians" vs "Steemates" | Preference?

in steem •  8 years ago  (edited)

Which do you prefer?

I, personally, refer to my fellow steemit/steem users as "Steemates." (Mates of steem.)
I find it very fitting and catchy! :)
However, I see a lot of people referring to fellow users as "Steemians."

I suppose my only question would be, where did "Steemians" originate from and is there a specific purpose most people choose to use that for? Or did it just catch on and no one bothered to come up with other alternatives?

Let me know what you think, I however, will always refer to my partners on here as "Steemates" because it is what I like and (to me) it feels a bit more personal and warm.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter! :)

i use Steemer sometimes. or steem author.

I never heard steemates before.

How about Steemininians
Or Steeminites Steemadians.

Others?

That sounds cool :P I would probably use "steem author" if I were being a bit more technical, tbh.
Never? :P I use it almost religiously, it just stuck to me when I first said it!
I like those too, they sounds pretty intense!
Thank you for the input! :)

"Steemaniacs" for those who are crazy about it. ;)

Steemophiles!

Haha if the shoe fits! :D
Thanks for your input!

I'm not sure where Steemian originated.
I personally hadn't heard of Steemates before, but I really quite like it. I tend to use "Steemer", which I think sounds pretty good. I defineitly do not like "steemite", which I've seen a couple of people use.

Me neither, but it seems to be the most commonly used term to refer to steemit users. :P
Glad you like it! I'm hoping maybe it can catch on, as I fell in love with it when I first started using it and no one else was. Steemer is pretty good too, I like that as well, it's pretty catchy! Yea, Steemite seems extremely impersonal to me, not exactly sure why.. but just something about it.
Thank you for your input! :)

No problem - my only issue with steemate is it sounds a little bit too... something... I don;t know what the word is. It's too much like what some horrible corporation would want it's employees to be called if that makes sense?!
