I am just now entering the 5th major wave of malicious, unprovoked (and unreplied to) automated downvoting in the past couple of weeks. In total, I have received well over 1000 downvotes now in the past 15 days, and have not given ANYONE any downvotes in response and have not replied to all the SPAMMING of my articles with replies that range from filthy to a SPAMMY re-posting of thousands of pictures that make my reply pages thoroughly unreadable.

The 7 day window is a double edge sword, same as flagging is. It can be good and it can be abused. It's there so that actual scammers can be caught within that 7 day window. That's why so many scammer types self upvote on day 6, it gives less time to be caught and have it flagged away.
