Cleared a post for the fourth time, maybe it is time for a change.

It just does feel wrong at the moment.

And then it becomes like a waste of time, after yet another flushed draft.

The amount of votes dropped anyway.

Is it time for me to stop posting at the Steem blockchain for a while maybe? The post I wanted to do is basicly responding to some negativity that has been going around at Steem for a while recently. But while I am typing I feel a drain in my energy level. That usually is a sign for me that I am getting into something that is best for me to stay away from. There is still enough for me to do and it looks like with summer vacation closing in, it would be a good idea for me to really take a break. It could be interesting to see how Steem evolves. For me it is already tough to keep posting and keep up with all the other things going on at my home feed. Then all of a sudden over 940 Steem members to keep track of is a kind of tough. Well, I am sorry dear fellow Steem blogger in my home feed, I did lose track of it all a little while back.

It is nice to see a Nederish speaking community growing here at Steem. This is part of where the Steem communty will develope towards I think. More seperate communities coming, the first ones being based on language, then with even more sub-communities emerging from that. Stamp collectors from Nederland who only collect used ones that are misprents. Just to throw it up there. But also the united coffeebean farmers could have their own Steem community. They would have cut out the intermediate and are using their UniCoBe Steem Community Token {SCT} for trading. Making sure the value now directly goes to the producers of coffeebeans. This will be Steem evolving over time. For me it is hard to imagine that it can handle the member growth without communities. And it will be tough to handle demand for liquid Steem if there will be no Steem Community Tokens available to fix that. Also adding functionallity to the internal decentralized Steem market.

Yet, even while I type this in, I feel empty and I think it is really best for me to go do other things. Maybe one post in my native tongue and then call it weekend? Tomorrow I will be teaming up with a good friend of mine. Together we will go on tour with a BBQ-service. This time taking us to a village in the neighbouring province of Drenthe, in the north of Nederland. People don't have to bake themselves, it is an all-in service, but if they want to they can. There is even a trailer with cooled drinks, a coffee and tea bar plus they can tap their own beer. Always fun that one, who is the first to have a go? We will be going there in an old (1959) Volkswagon van, that already attracts a lot of attention. At arrival we set things up and let the party start. And to get into the BBQ mood already upfront I am having one myself tonight.

So, it might become a bit silent from my part of the world until I find some inspiration again to post. And it happened before that I thought I was done blogging for the time being that I got new inspiration shortly there after. But I'm okay with it. Just as it says: accept something you cannot change and you will feel better. Whish you a good weekend already up front.

Have a great one!

It's BBQ time!

#NL Dankje!

fijn weekend!

Dankje, BBQ-bus tour was al geweldig. :-)
Voor je het weet post ik weer. ;-)

Fijn weekend!

That van is so awesome. Great post :D

It is a great van indeed! :-)
Thanks.

Hee, ben verbaasd.

Gave bus man.

A man has gotta do, what a man has gotta do.
En bedenk ook; 'The struggle you're in today, is developing the strength you need for tomorrow'. CU

Hahaha, en viel mee hoor het bieren.

Zijn inderdaad toffe busjes. Onderweg is al een feest. Maximaal 80. Leuke klus morgen. =D

CU L8R!

Nice VW Bus!

I certainly hope that after a good weekend, you'll pick up Steemit again as before. Njoy :)

More in General about the Community
Why is it that whenever votes and rewards drops, users stop engagement with Steemit? Is it really about the rewards? I've seen a tremendous dips in posting and efforts when HF17/18 was rolled out with a reward pool that needed to build up again. I've seen high Rep holders not having any activities on Steemit while Steem was in a recession (Autumn and Winter and part of Spring) and came back to Steemit recently (while Steem is way up in value compared to Winter time) creating their (good) posts and pocketing 1.000+ $ rewards per post. This gives me a real feeling that those who earn good money only want to be active when earning good money. That in effect gives me bad feeling actually. I certainly hope the culture at Steemit will become less focussed on rewards, but more about creating sub-communities to which we like to belong to.

It is awesome!
Yes, it will be okay. ;-)

I'll answer more extensively later Ed Now on mobile...

NJOY your weekend :)

THX, U2! :-)

Community matters

Steem has been marketed quite extensively as payed blogging. But there is of course much more to Steem than only that, things like freedom of expression. It is so different in many ways, made me feel at home right away. Open minded people, different points of views, cultures from all over the world coming together. That really is something that is of great value, without a price tag put on it.

But because it got marketed a lot as: post and get payed, that will get people in that expect this to be great. And well, when that is not up to expectation, that will make active posting less interesting for them. Or even will lead to a lot of disappointment, because competition is also tough.

Part of the Steem culture of the community is already less focused on potential payout. Great friendships are being made. And I think we are indeed moving into the forming of sub-communities, like the Nedelands speaking one. To me it is very nice to see it develope.

Yes and there will be those who will be most active when there is Steem to be made. Part that is the game of Steem, it was build to be like that. Trending and hot tabs, it was marketed heavily that way and for a part still is.

Yet, there are also a lot that posted in lows and highs, because of the fun of being active on Steem. Payout as a bonus. Lost potential payouts with others after HF17/18. Still kept posting. Some do so, others do not. Can not really blame them because Steem was constructed to be like that.

But you and I, we have a choice to also post for fun. To meet people from other cultures, from all over the world, to make new friends, to start as sub-community based on common grounds. To exchange thoughts on matters of life. To have fun together. Freedom of expression, That to me is a part of Steem too, a very important part.

Hope you can see that too Ed and I can understand the bad feeling part also.

Steem on!

I DO see the parts you mentioned, other then rewards. That is the main reason I'm here. Looking at how many hours I put into Steemit and the rewards it brought me, I can better find something else to earn money :) When the reward pool was down, I started to spend even more time on Steemit. Not so many users vote for Music, but I increase my music posts because I like to develop an electronic music community, I even opened another account for that since we do not have community features. I also try to close my eyes for the reward hunters. And yes, Steemit is designed to earn money; However along the way a couple of things were done wrong. I dont understand for instance that high Rep hiders how left Steemit because there rewards went down, now being back and all those who were there form day one but didn't leave Steemit, start voting for these leavers and returners. It is that behaviour of the community that bugs me big time; It is if they agree to what they did! Or is it because these users can bring them more money in their own pocket again. Anyway, long story short, I try and look for all the positive things in the community and kinda close my eyes for anything else.

Thanks BTW for you extensive comment expressing your views. I appreciate that really much!

It is my pleasure Ed!

Think that is a great way to look at it. Focus on the positive things in the Steem community and move forward to the things we like to do.

With that nice thought I whish you a great weekend!

Until next time!

Unbreak soon!

Volkswagenbusjes rijden is ook niet verkeerd. Wees voorzichtig in Drenthe.

I will! ;-)

Ja, heb er zin in! Uitkijken Drenthe?

It is allways good to take a break wheb it is draining your energy.
I hope you enjoy your upcomming vacation!

I hope to read your post again when you decide to come back for sure!

Yes, change of scenery. Low on screen staring. It is going to be fine.

Thanks! I shall return. ;-)

Aw dude. I know the feelings you describe. I hope it you do decide to take a break is a short one and inspiration plus the actual want to do a post comes back to you. Things have changed vote wise. They are way sparser now.

Know this, I will miss your banter till you come back.

Thanks mate I appreciate it. Will go with the flow and get inspired again, it will work out fine. Change of scenery will help.

And I do enjoy your posts man, so I will surely be back to read them. And in the meanwhile I surely will find my jest again.

I am sure you will. Get some guitar playing time in and do all the things you have been putting to the side.

Make it so!! :O)

That is a good idea, make some music, do different things that I did put aside for Steem posting. Visit some people I have not seen in a while. Go on bicycle rides and so on. Thanks mate!

Engage! =D

:O)

Oh man, we are sure going to miss you out here! Have to say that Volkswagen looks amazing though. I am sure a short break can do wonders, and look forward to having you back in here! (also to keep things moving around #NL!)

Thanks, I'll be back! ;-)
Have to let my Voting Strength battery rebuild too, so now I really will have to go do other things for a few days. And I will be happy to return here!

We will keep things moving in the #NL group too!

Later!

And the VW is awesome, really looking forward to the trip tomorrow!

We will watch the place while you are gone. Have loads of fun and see you soon! ;)

Alright, thanks! :-)

Have a great weekend!

You too! Cheers! :)
