Why does Steem have 3 different currencies?

I'm just getting started, but this is proving to be a bit more challenging to understand than I thought.

Did anyone find any good content on explaining how this works? I'm trying to get a good grasp to strategize my future content.

It actually only 2. The steem and steem power are the same currency. Steem power is steem that you have "invested" to utilize the steem platforms. The more steem power you have the more your vote will be worth. You can power steem up into steem power at any time but it takes 13 weeks to transfer steem power tokens back into steem. Thanks, this is starting to slowly take shape. I actually opened my account back in Jan-2017, but totally forgot about it until I rediscovered it yesterday.
