Follow Follow Follow.. and all the way back!steemCreated with Sketch.

Just got a notification that someone unfollowed me which I don't mind. More followers to come ;)

But one thing I realised is that the last of my 3 unfollowers were new guys who reached plenty of followers while following tons of people on their own.

While checking who unfollowed I figured that these are just kicking out most of their followers after they reach a huge base for themselves. The last one just dropped 200 followers in 3 min and continuing.. no names here.
If you wanna see who follows/ unfollows you check out Steem Followers.

Everyone can do here as he likes and I don't blame it. But what goes around comes around, so I guess this strategy won't be successful in the long term. At least I hope so in favour for the people who are providing good content seriously an not just spamming followers to make little money, but tons of it..

Just don't blindly follow people ;)

This is a well known instagram tactic and honestly it sucks.
The good news is that there aren't many people that do this here.
And honestly it's just bad reputation for anyone that does that .
Followed you ♡ Lets fix the losses.
Cheers.

Thanks, appreciate that ;)
It's not so many indeed but I just had 3 in the last couple of days, so I hope its not a rising strategy..

instagram tactic? I don't understand what is the point of unfollowing ppl ?

The tactics are thus. You fallow a ton of people that follow you back, after that you stay following them for lets say a week. After that you unfollow everybody and you keep them following you. But here in steemit youd end up loosing reputation so I don't advice it.

It's very simple for me: I don't follow people who beg for followers. I don't follow people who tell me 'upvoted and followed, pls follow back'. And all that follow for follow business makes no sense. Would you upvote articles you don't care for? No, neither will those useless followers who only go by numbers.

You shouldn't feel obligated to follow anyone. Just follow those people who write articles that you're interested in, or those people who give you good conversations. That way, all should be well :-)

Couldn't have said it better. But I guess a lot of people still fall for that game 😒

Agree with both of you, I reckon that anyone can build up the numbers, but building up and nurturing a community is a very different thing. I would rather have one person who was interested in me and I was in them rather than having the big numbers.

To your point, I intend to never ask for an upvote, a resteem or a follow. If someone wants to do any of those things it should be because they want to, not because I begged .

Sadly they do. I don't think it helps the quality of the platform much. Atleast their own user experience won't benefit much from it!

Yeah but sometimes, you wish someone read your work badly :s You might have an interest over health, here is my last article, I used to be a physiotherapist

Agreed shit people after quick wealth don't think it's about that here in this community so keep positive and realise the good people out there x

Karma will get them @sarasate!

ye that's unfortunate, let's keep the community as clean as possible. :D

This is especially insidious on youtube. All this sub4sub like4like comment4comment view4view nonsense. They even dedicate facebook groups to sub4subbing. Not in my group though. I instaban that shit.

I am start blogging real soon on steemit but opened the account a while back & had very limited time to spend on it. Not knowing how to use but knowing how to flow with intuition, i started following randomers just to fill up my feed (having very little knowledge on how this amazing platform works) (had not watched any youtube vids or read any articles due to limited time on computer), but now reading your post I have a bit of a dilemma, seeing that most of the randos I followed have very little content or just bad content that does not stimulate or expand the mind therefore my feed is a bit meh so I have to unfollow. Hope that doesn't give me bad karma on steemit :) Peace & thanks for the tip ;) @sarasat
