I remember signing up too, but I havn't recieved emails confirming I'm able to use it yet. Maybe I just ought to try it, but I don't remember choosing any account details.
It is a like and dislike button, you can also see the weight for each vote which is great.
Awesome! ^^ That's what they said they were gonna do last time we spoke, thanks for reminding me. They also spoke of a separate flag being a possibility.
Taking the above into consideration, I've updated my post "A Standardized Message For Those Using The Steemit.com User Interface To Downvote Content You Dislike Or Think Is Overvalued".
Are there any guidelines provided somewhere that you've noticed @snowflake or is there any extra information displayed to the user before he confirms a downvote ("dislike")?
Nope, it's a simple dislike button. I don't like the flag thing, because of it no one dares to downvote, downvoting simply means that you are using your power to reduce rewards on a certain post so that the money can be better allocated somewhere else, nothing wrong with this.
I think it's up to the community to solve these issues, basically another whales should upvote to rebalance the censoring. The busy interface is really awesome btw, you will love it.

For the most part I absolutely agree with you, but I think there's a place for an "open contract" approach when it comes to the user interfaces created.
They need to be clear enough that outsiders not yet accustomed to the unwritten rules of our social sector can read the guidelines and easily know what rules to expect.
Otherwise we are risking both becoming known as, but of course much worse actually becoming, a social "cult" of sorts.
Yeah signed up,never got confirmation and can not log in.

Perfect. I was just thinking I'd get some kind of confirmation details or similar to log in for the first time, in order to stop bots from joining.
Edit: It's still in closed alpha, so we might have to wait. But I'm hitting "Request Access" and hoping.

Wow Nice! =)
How does the downvote look over there so far? Did they change it from a flag icon to a downvote button, as they said they would?

I agree. Only thing is that I hope the censoring effects that a higher user can have on a lower are made much milder unless it is meant as a flag.
