I feel the same as you in regards to what I saw at sf3 and particularly the guy from the EU made me pretty sure that:
A) this blockchain tech will win through in the long term... and
B) Steem will be one of the top 5-8 projects/coins that are used and will have a massive return on investment.
Or the whole thing could go tits up... but this has always been a risk. I'm very hopeful/confident that it won't which is why I'm gambling again on getting some more steem soon.

Well done on evolving from a Minnower to a Dolphin! I am considering buying some as the current prices compared to where Steem has been is a steal! Yet, I remind myself that what is in the wallet is purely what was earned by blogging/vlogging, so once I buy some Steem I am really invested in the Steem blockchain. There are also other cryptos that are quite low and tempting too. I was going to wait until Christmas to treat myself, but maybe I need to treat myself before!

Hahaha - yes, the prices are looking sooo good! You can always diversify a bit in Steem and another coin, or buy half of what you can miss now so you won't regret not buying, if prices go lower, buy a bit more, if prices go higher, you'll at least have bought a bit.

Being a Minnow is actually a huge accomplishment already! So many won't ever be able to get to that level. Taking the hard an long way isn't bad at all, it's actually one of the things I try to explain outsiders about STEEM: this is not just a 'have money and win' kind of game, but you can grow here through investing time and/or talent as well :-)

Yes, I kept myself from buying in the past, glad I waited, although as you can see with the current prices you can always wait just a liiiiiitle bit longer... Recently I joined whaleshares. Yesterday I got payout of my introduction post. Few a bit smaller payouts are coming in a few days. But I still have not decided what to do with it. Do I sell it and grab a bit of steem? Or do I keep it? My future payouts will not always be the same size. So using them to make my stay and growth in whaleshares easier is tempting as well.

I have an opinion on this, but you have to think for yourself: which platform will have the best future? Which platform will be interesting for investors? Which platform shows the most development? As for Musing: the website is musing.io. You can post questions there, or answer questions of other Steemians. Since Musing has a lot of SP if they like your answer (if they see you put some thought into it) you get a pretty nice upvote, 50 cents, or even 2,5 dollars, or even higher... Try it out and let me know how that works for you! I've seen a few Minnows growing their SP pretty fast just through Musing. Good luck!

Yeah, I know how that goes. I do pay attention to the amount in my wallet, but what's been bugging me the most is, even though I add in more SP, STEEM keeps going down so now I'm down to fifteen cents for a 100% upvote! Just after the hard fork, the darn thing was above thirty cents! It's like I can't win here! It feels like I'm still a lower minnow or something. :)

It seems like a lot of people have taken advantage of the low prices and grown their accounts. I've done the same myself but am still a good bit off dolphin status. I had hoped to get there in the next 12 months but with the price drop that will happen a bit sooner hopefully.

Not too far away. Hopefully we can really grab some of the power to have a better say on the blockchain. A middle class would be far more active and beneficial to to community than a few large stakeholders that rarely interact with the community. Thousands of active dolphins could have a far greater effect on the other users on daily basis. It will be interesting to see.

cant believe 1000sp is only worth 0.3 cent, and didnt know 5k sp made someone a dolphin. something new to learn on steemit everyday. love ur optimism about it but honestly for me thats a lot of money to hand over.... Well, I don't know about 'attention' because I'm a Dolphin, but I've been here for over a year, trying to support others with upvotes, upvoting comments other people leave below my post, I went to SteemFest, meeting a lot of people... It all makes for more and more people recognizing my efforts on Steem, and now I've also shown them I'm willing to put in 'money' to gain even more STEEM, with which I can do even more of the above... So it's not the monetary value alone, but the respect for my efforts that might help me get more 'attention' as you call it :-) But this platform is never black & white, there's very wealthy people that get no real support on the platform, there's people with Plankton status that everybody loves... So pick your road and walk it :-) There are many ways in which you can grow and earn and gain respect and a name on this platform :-) And most, I for sure, am always ready to help if needed! I am currently still Plankton. I have been growing by slowly buying more Steem. At first, I thought that Steemit was all there was. I have learned about Steepshot, DSound, and D.Tube, along with other apps. If it were just blogging alone, I don't think I could grow so much. It takes forever for me to decide on what to write about. However, with photos, podcasts, and videos, it should be easier. I do these things already. It has been a great learning experience.
I got into Steem just as the price was around $1. I didn't know what that meant. Since then, with the price drop, it has been an incentive to buy more Steem as I can squeeze out a few dollars here and there. It might be a while before becoming Minnow. But, I am not in a rush. I do this in my spare time.

Nicely done, it's ridiculous how low steem currently is and I wouldn't have to make a big transaction in a couple of days I would put it all to steem and postpone it a couple of months, sadly I don't have that opportunity right now and I hope that the value stays as low as it is right now.
Powered up myself ~120 Steem yesterday and even that feels amazing so I have no clue what you may even feel haha, as of the vote value goes, just wait till Steem gets higher, you will be surprised on your vote value :P!

Yes, yes, yes, seeing the dollar value of my account going down is depressing, a bit, but seeing my SP go up every day is what excites me so so so much more! I think that even if you're 'only' in STEEM right now you're doing great - think of how many have zero crypto - they will be jealous of you in a few years time :-)

Nice and congrats on swimming more freely within the ocean realm of steem! I've yet to buy any with actual fiat but rather started my journey as more of an experiment to do it all by earning it. I've been through this before and didn't buy and am considering it this time around on the now lows.............
