I think that you are forgetting that goverments and investors have thrown quite a bunch of money into that energy. One thing also is the infrastructure that is needed. Solar panels are shiny as hell so they could cause troubles in cities, water-power affects fishes and as far as I am aware of windmill are damn expensive to maintain per power produced.
I think that steem works kind of like current system. More money you have more you make from it. Ones there start to be just actual viewers I can see big oligharcs making more and more in a week from their own upvotes and supporters. That forced delegation kind of works like socialism without the bureocracy. I throws money at the bottom so that it could climb up again.
I think what you think steem is going to bring is actually going to be brought by Manna, or similiar basic-income that is not too controlled.
