Leave STEEM At Your Own Risk!!!!

STEEM is the blockchain of opportunity.

This is something that is becoming more apparent to me everyday. I can only imagine what this place will be like if @ned's goal of 100K entrepreneurs on this blockchain is even close to being reached. It is so exciting to watch what is happening with only 350-400 DApps. Consider a day when there are thousands of developers on the STEEM blockchain all producing applications that attract users.

Many point to the fact that STEEM's retention rate is poor. To start, does anyone know that for sure? What is an acceptable retention rate on a blockchain? And secondly, who cares at this point?

My view is simple: leave STEEM at your own risk!!!

It is obvious that many come on here and do not see the potential. That really sucks for them. I know I am not alone in trying to convey what is taking place here. Nevertheless, you can't force feed someone. They are free to leave.

And yes, I am well-aware of the fact that many come here with unrealistic expectations. A great deal of that lies with some of the individuals on Facebook and YouTube espousing the absurd notion that just come here and make a fortune in two posts.

The bottom line is that we are not well served by having a bunch of people on here who are looking at this as a get rich-quick scheme. In fact, the faster they leave, the better it is for all of us.

STEEM is a long-term venture. Those who take this view are going to be highly successful. There are already many different ways to earn STEEM and that will only grow. Each of us are free to develop whatever ideas we have for a STEEM-based business.

Short of ideas?

That is okay, I came across a post yesterday that even offered one up.

How about Curation-As-A-Service?

With the advanced version of Curator and Smart Media Tokens(SMT), anyone can setup a curation service powered by their own SMT.

In the coming updates of Curator, the bot system will be able to vote:

  • content from the projects' blog
  • vote content from the team's members' blog accounts

This model will mean that the Curator model could become a self-sustaining business model which financially rewards not only authors but also the team and also finances the project itself.

Now isn't that amazing?

Here is a developer who put together an application that is fully open-source for anyone to use. That is the Age of Abundance mindset. Yes, according to the article it is best to have a developer on the team since there is some set up involved. However, here is a project that is being handed to the community for anyone to use and profit from.

In other words, it is an opportunity that anyone can take advantage of.

Another thing happened on my way around STEEM.

I came across a post by @steemitblog. At first they wouldn't post anything, now you can't shut them up. They posted like three times in a week.

Their post was basically an open letter in response to a complaint that was put out by the Status team about censorship on Medium. Evidently, the anti-crypto stance is not limited to Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. Now Medium is getting in on the act.

I will not repost what the Status people wrote, that is in the link I provided. The main point is that the Steemit Team openly reached out to them plus is promoting the idea of decentralization. It was synchronistic timing since it went up about the same time as my article did espousing the idea that we need to keep driving home the idea of decentralization.

If we really want to get loopy, we might even stretch this as far as to say this is a marketing piece. 😀

STEEM is not perfect. We all know that. There are many things that need attention. Of course, if you are looking for perfection, perhaps blockchain is not the right area. Look at EOS; that was the game-changer. Three weeks after launch, nothing but problems. That blockchain is getting hammered on the different crypto sites. Does that mean it is trash like some are saying? Of course not. What it means is there are issues that need attention. That is not the ideal blockchain, at this point, either.

I know, the whales have too much power. Again, look at EOS. That was suppose to alleviate that issue with an ICO that lasted the better part of a year. What was the result? From what I read, 50% of the tokens are in the hands of 10 accounts. STEEM's distribution is far from ideal but it is getting better.

This is not a knock on EOS by the way. I just use it to exemplify how there are problems with every blockchain if we choose to focus upon them. Being prudent is a good approach. If one decides STEEM is not the place to be, good luck in whatever is pursued. This is not for everyone I am sure.

The one thing I will say about that concept is to be careful. Leaving the STEEM blockchain can be a very expensive decision. We all know what it is like to have the opportunity to get into something at X price only to look back years later and see what it cost us. I can make a case that STEEM will be this way for a lot of people.

STEEM is really helping me see the Age of Abundance starting to unfold. There are so many opportunities on here already. The people who are truly concerned about others and helping all break free from the system we all are operating under is amazing. I feel that we could start to see something that is truly revolutionary with this blockchain.

To paraphrase President Bush the first: Its the development silly.

I think the bigger issue people are having is the lack of transparency in terms of development and changes to be made. So many “plans” nothing executed. So I completely understand why some would want to jump ship. Also add in the fact that the main man is selling his stake I really don’t know.

Development takes time and it takes even more time if you are on the business of developing bleeding edge blockchain tech, if you find an issue, you can't just goggle it and try to fix it because no one has done something one Steem before.

If you check the github, development it's actually pretty active but again, these things take time.

Agreed. These things take time, but you ever go to work and get to do things without timelines? This is where a big issue lies, no one know what’s going to happen when and thus confidence is wrecked.

Ive been here for close to two years. I sure as in the hell am not leaving!

I have been trying to read many more posts from newer users and it’s unfortunate how little I am finding from consistent posters. Not even consistently commenting to engage with the community. Very different to what I experienced when I started at the beginning of this year. the crypto crash has definitely filtered out many. I hope many get inspired as I do from your consistent and relevant posts on the potential of the STEEM blockchain.

You hit the nail on the head @newageinv.

There are so few newer people posting even twice a day. People like to complain about the uneven distribution yet the reward pool pays out 75% daily to those posting. The sheer numbers could overwhelm the system. This afternoon I will do another Minnow Uprising post to try and stir up some excitement.

When I started, it became clear that this was a social media site, so success came, not from great article, but socializing. Quality content without viewers is lost.

I agree the fall in crypto bummed a lot of people out which is the exact opposite of the approach. It was posted yesterday the daily reward pool was never higher.

I guess that's just too cool and a truth from you....... People now find it hard to be available online due to the drop it takes only the grace for people online like you and I to be in if not discouragement must have been the reason for backing out now.

Your paraphrase make me lol. 😉

I wish to contribute more aswell and make something with a friend, however it requires some skills. Let's see what is possible.

It is a really great article, people are free to stay or leave the boat!

Just wanna echo what @newageinv mentioned in their comment. The amount of rah rah cheerleading and preaching we heard at the beginning of the year when everything was in the green compared to now is almost comical.

The people that have stuck with it deserve a huge pat on the back because they maintained through the downtrend. It's super easy to be excited and raving about something when it's making money hand over fist...But then 2018 happens LOL

Seriously though, I appreciate all your posts and I have learned a ton since I started following you. You are a great example for all Steemians to follow. Stay the course and put good stuff out there every day....

Why? Because most people won't and it makes it easier for you to stick out :)

Thanks for the kind words @jongolson.

I am glad my words arent falling on "deaf" eyes.

Thank you for doing STEEM - better. Good luck to you and Love.

Спасибо, что делаете STEEM – лучше. Удачи Вам и Любви.

All cryptocurrency-enthusiasts are thinking their preferred coin, ICO is THE great blockchain of opportunity. But many other systems, services are in development stage, not even in alpha version. I see mountains of nice ideas and promises everywhere. Steemit is working, with all its errors, and has a value for many readers and writers, video-makers and book-authors.

Blockchains aren't perfect, but living and depending on a centralized system isn't better to me. Even I'm a small user now and don't earn much, I like to post and Ihope I'll get better on this, so I believe this is for me and won't leave.

Great stuff @taskmaster4450

Ducking out now would be crazy. The long term future of steem isn't dependent on the current price of steem so why do people go running for the hills. I guess it is a lack of understanding crypto, faith in the industry and philosophy, short-termism (I think I just created a word) and in steems case, just doing it for the cash instead of loving the process.

I've only been here 3 month but I love it and I am trying to recruit family and friends and I'm also planning to be around for the long haul.

Thanks for sharing your post.
