I often upvote without reading the actual post...

I still don't fully understand the voting mechanism of steem but I think it is better to upvote quick before others do, right?
I can't and I don't want to read all the stuff that is happening here but if certain people post or upvote a post I do the same as long as I believe more voters will join after me.

Is my acting rationally?

I'm curious if it is just me or if you too upvote many posts just without reading it and if this behavior could become a flaw to the actual meaning of the voting system.

I hear ya brah. I use to date women before getting to know them simply because they looked hot at first glance. Then after a few weeks I would find out they were boring or just an overall horrible person and their luster wore off quickly. It's always best to curate properly before granting something your approval. ;)

The day your vote is worth a $1000, believe me, you'll read before up voting :-)

Am I right in believing a vote is like an investment?

Just because I "should" care on who I support with my voting power or could I lose money in any circumstance?

You can't lose money directly, but you can squander your voting power, which is a limited resource. In time those who vote poorly or not at will see their share of steem power decline relative to those who vote better, all else being equal.

The beauty is, you can't lose.

You can only earn less
