Watching Everyone Get FOMO... Projections and a Ramble..

If you are paying attention to the overall Markets Bitcoin is slowly chugging up and it seems the worst of the bear markets are over.

In typical crypto fashion, everyone is expecting Bitcoin to soar. While it might, I don't think it will move as quickly as it did in 2017, for one thing, there are not 5 Hardforks with chain splits coming up to fuel the rush with free money.

My prediction is we will see many jumping out of ALTs into BTC and for they will take a hit and Steem is likely to see some of that as well. However many of our investors will not because they can't or will not walk away from the inflation and delegation/vote selling. While some will chase BTC others will hunker down because this is not a bad game for the investors.

I feel a bit of the FOMO too, but not because I expect a quick return to ATHs (All time highs) but because I want Steem to get ready for a warmer market again.

Many fear being Myspace, but some made a lot of money in Myspace. image.png
Also, myspace is still active. Although everyone loves to talk about its failure... In fact, Myspace was still boasting 15 million monthly active visitors as of 2017. I hope we get close to being Myspace! ;)

A few reminders, the development work for the DAO is complete and SteemIt Inc and Blocktrades will soon be scheduling a hardfork to drop it. This will be a tool to vote on and fund development projects with community input. Also, the elections for the Steem Alliiance Foundation close tomorrow. Another community-driven fund which can be used to fund development or maybe even marketing projects.

Like many others, I get frustrated with our slow-moving decentralized project, but I do not fear huge losses because there are too many people that are too invested in time, money and projects who can not carelessly exit.

During the Bear Market we lost many weak hands, during the early stages of the Bulls I expect to see some leave to chase projects that seem to have momentum. I hope that we will see slow steady growth and the remaining investors make real efforts to build something sustainable.

I'm bracing myself for some bumpy roads ahead though...

What are your predictions?

@whatsup,
I think 2019 will be the year of STEEM, probably SMT hits the ground just after the implementation of MIRA and who knows, sometimes we all might be at Millionaires club!

Cheers~

Thinking is merely talking to oneself. Don't listen to him, he is a bad guy...

haha, he is one of my favs.. why are you going troll on me here.

I would upvote you too, but ehhh.... see

I am not trolling My Beloved Miss @whatsup. I would not dare!!!

I am just networking, socializing. There are some voices whispering it's a one-way ticket to that moon.

Did I tell you already that I love you?

Steem is coming very close to making a new All Time Low. I'm not really sure why it's under performing the market but hopefully new investors will pick it up soon.

Not true at all... We have been at .07 usd.. And we hit around .22 within the last 6 months

Vs btc

Ohhh dear, in other news :

South Korean electronics giant Samsung is developing its own blockchain network and eyeing the issuance of its own token further down the road.

https://www.coindesk.com/samsung-developing-ethereum-based-blockchain-may-issue-own-token

I'm against the chroni capital system

Steem for strong hands, SMTs for liquids.

I like that.

I think that my $300 investment in Steem over the past few years (along with my earnings for writing/voting etc) will be worth a few thousand dollars within 4 years. So I'm just going to keep plugging along with NEVER selling a single satoshi of Steem and keep earning it wherever I can. Right now my $300 investment (Cnd funds) has already earned $150 in CND funds according to the valuation of my wallet today. I can live with that. There's stuff I would love to do more with Steemit... but I am not physically well enough to do much of it at the time. Hope all is well with you! See you later! HUGS

I'm glad to hear your investment is going well for you. I love that you have more realistic expectations... If we exceed them that is a win.

I just see the current declining steem price as an opportunity to buy in more steem - I've been buying on the way down but further decline doesn't worry me!

There's still nothing quite like steem out there!

As to slow progress, that just goes with any decentralised project!

You are living under a rock.

How do you mean? Further explanation required!

There's still nothing quite like steem out there!

OK cheers - point me to some alternatives that work and I'll check them out!

Posted using Partiko Android

nah, there isn't a good alternative yet. He is right, but they are coming and we better get our shit together.

Talking to me about shit coming together?

I find Immodium works well for that.

lol

I agree, gosh it does seem painfully slow though.

Prediction under uncertainty is very slim but if we all have a blind hope in our own coin. We are going to do anything to keep it on.

Posted using Partiko Android

There is hope in people, not in society, not in systems, but in you and me.

Bumpy roads? I will have your back...

Hodl, hodl ... steempower it is ... I expect more to leave and sell, that is a good thing, let that steem price pressure build up...

I am buying under 0.10 cents...

.10 might be tough. Better jump in at .25

I took facebook 2 years to get 1 million profiles, so looks like we are not to far behind on schedule lol truce

Glad I still have some funds on the side to add some more at these prices!

I have never even visited MySpace and actually thought it no longer existed for quite a while. Then I thought only a few people still used it. Quite a surprise to discover it's more active than steem!

I don't have fomo, purely because I'm so oblivious and still don't really get crypto well enough to grasp what I might be missing out on. I don't even get why the alts will be hit hard by bitcoin rising. Something to do with people selling en masse to buy bitcoin?

Posted using Partiko Android

When you are oblivious of all that, you are.

if you have 10 dollar on an exchange in an alt... and you see bitcoin going up... it's pretty easy to want to move it over. :)

Okay, that makes sense now. I see the fomo.
I only hold Steem (and some byteball from that airdrop) and for me, the reason to hold our little alt coin has more to do with its value to me for on my social media account. It has influence here and I can use that to support the things important to me, like my local Adelaide community and the homesteading and tribe communities. I guess these things make more sense to me because they feel more tangible. I have enough experience with how SP works.

Slow and steady always win the long game.

Historical fact.

Posted using Partiko iOS

Is fact different from reality? Is reality different from truth?

Agreed.

Best place to weite about crypto will still be Steem. Maybe ill write about it soon. It has been awhile. I still have other coins and I spent most of the last year buying btc or Steem

Don't forget the ETH hodl.

Yeah and the best place to connect to an active community too. Go try to find the Tron community... or Eos.

"Prediction is very difficult, especially when it is about the future" - right?

I also tend to think that somrthing like 2017 will not happen again, but: most of that rush was caused by the introduction of cash-settled Bitcoin futures, so this time a catalyst like the ETF or physically settled futures may cause a similar move, not before the event, but after.

In general we should focus on managing what we have rather than wait for the next bull market to help. A lot of hype has vanished, which is a good thing. Only the (more) serious ones are still around. We should focus on building stuff that matters to the people, on bringing value to them. The foundation is a good step forward in this. Let's keep this moving.

These decentralized systems actually move really slowly, but otoh we have an alive and engaged community that actually cares, so my hopes are high that we'll be able to pull something off :-)

I don't mind what happens. That's my secret.

I agree!!!

My prediction?

Not great for now.... Id say we go under 60 in MC in 2 weeks. Just hoping that my earnings in STEEM can offset the drop off.
I dont think we can hope for much until the DAO and SMTs go live.

Slowly and steady it is sinking in deeply. :)

We need the DAO badly.

People are not patient and the market can change rapidly!

People? What about you? How much time do you have and wait?

I survived the bear market and I keep posting about crypto because I love this space.

I think we're going to be in for a really bumpy ride over the next few months. I'm definitely a lot more optimistic about BTC now than I was. Market sentiment seems to be improving and alts are starting to feel the momentum too.

As far as STEEM is concerned, there's just so much positive stuff happening on this blockchain right now. STEEM has to be one of the few coins I'm holding right now, that I'm not overly concerned about. Wherever there is growth and community support, there is long term viability. STEEM has that right now! I'm optimistic about big things in STEEM's future.

I'm sure happy DAO is complete & the Alliance is getting going.

These two efforts will, hopefully, finally get some steam into Steem.

Every other blockchain project has had a team that's been working on it. Meanwhile, Steem has just sorta been twiddling its thumbs waiting for mommy & daddy to come pick it up from school.

WELL GUESS WHAT LOSER! YOUR PARENTS ARE DEAD. YOU'RE ADOPTED NOW, AND WE WILL FINALLY GIVE YOU THE NURISHMENT YOU NEED!

oh and... sorry about the whole "dead parents" thing... bummer

STEEM ADOPTION FTW!
