Big favorites up by 8 after the first quarter and they still manage to lose. That's basketball for you. I should have checked the league tables first to see that the favorites were pretty lousy to begin with.
Volleyball does seem more predictable in that sense. If a favorite is up by 2 sets, it is very rare that they go on to throw it away. Basketball on the other hand seems to turn on a dime.
I still remember wagering on Chinese basketball and the underdog team was up by 18 going into the 4th quarter and they still managed to lose after the introduction of the favorite's new star player.
