What Is A Parable?

Parables can be defined in my Sunday lesson knowledge, as an earthly saying with heavenly meaning, also it is a short narrative illustrating a lesson, Jesus while on earth often taught his disciples in parables, preparing them for the heavenly things to come.

And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? And He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive.

For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them, but blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

What Are The Difference Between A Parable And Fable?

Parable is differs from a fable in that fables employ animals, plants, inanimate objects, or forces of nature as characters, whereas parables have human characters. A parable is a type of analogy, it is a didactic story, in prose or verse that illustrates one or more instructive lessons or principles.

Is It Wrong To Be Taught In Parables.

It is definitely not wrong, in as much as the spirit of the Holy Ghost is well able to interpret such parables to your understanding... Parabels are the central teaching method of Jesus.

The word is not made for ordinary man to understand,it needs the inspiration from the Holy Spirit to do the interpretation. So looking at the parables Jesus spoke of it takes the wisdom to do the interpretation. Thanks brother abiye for such a wonderful piece thank you.

In Jesus's earthly mission he spoke in a lot of parables, gracefully, you've listed them brother @abiye
He used this parable to teach the how's about the kingdom of God, the parables were an allusions, it was always very didactic too using to teach and also that the lessons derived from it may teach morals, he brought God's kingdom to the grass root so that it would better simplified
This is amazing.

"It is definitely not wrong, in as much as the spirit of the Holy Ghost is well able to interpret such parables to your understanding... Parabels are the central teaching method of Jesus"
Obviously true

"It is definitely not wrong, in as much as the spirit of the Holy Ghost is well able to interpret such parables to your understanding... Parabels are the central teaching method of Jesus" true talk.

The disciples were privileged to get the interpretation of the parables. When we walk with God, He opens our eyes to understand the things of heaven. Nice article @abiye

JESUS SPEAKED IN PARABLES, FOR Q ALL WE CAN UNDERSTAND, AMEN ABIYE

As a matter of fact a parable may not necessarily be true but it carries deep lessons. In the Bible Jesus use parables in virtually most of his teachings amongst these parables used by our Lord Jesus the most of all that was stroking to me was the parable of the sower where different seeds produced different results some sixty folds, some thirty folds and even hundred folds how the seeds were attacked immediately the sower sowed, some by thorns ,some by birds, some fell in stony ground, some on good soil.In conclusion parables has deep practical lessons to draft from.

Thanks, @abiye for sharing this post, teaching us so much about parable; how Jesus used it as a powerful means of communicating the mysteries of the kingdom to his disciples.

Like you said, parables are deep to understand by the normal mind; it takes the Holyspirit for one to deduce the heavenly truths and revelations they hold.

And also, thanks @steemchurch for sharing this.

Kind regards.

When you genuinely surrender to God, He opens your eyes to the meaning of the parables. He prepares your mind for the greater glory. The scriptures below confirms this:

Mark 4:11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

Luke 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

one of my favorites is that of the prodigal son, it is a beautiful story, thank you for sharing this beautiful reflection
