BECOMING A BETTER PERSON

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge].

Imparting the qualities listed in the above scriptural passage is just one aspect of the spirit work in the life of a Christian. Though this may be regarded by some as an Oversimplification.

It may be said that the Holy Spirit seeks to minister to us in two particular ways;

To make us more pure.

To develop in us spiritual maturity.

The maturity is conferred through the gifts of the spirit and the purity through the fruit that we are exploring in this issue.

Therefore, the two are of equal importance because God believes in creating balance in all His doings.

Many Christians claim that they are far more interested in the fruit of the spirit than the gifts, but that is not what God desires. He longs for us to be people who demonstrates both Maturity and purity.

The indwelling of the Holy Spirit results in many things and of the most important is a quality of being - a quality being that has nine qualities listed in Galatians 5:22-23.

As the Holy Spirit resides within us we so not just become the recipients of pleasurable emotions though that does happen. The divine dwelling makes us better people. We must never forget that God's primary concern is that we might become holy- but remember the holier we are the happier we will be.

BOTTOM LINE
We are made in the image and likeness of the Almighty God, becoming like Him entails total dependence on the Holy Spirit who teaches us all things. Selah!
