Tests in life have a purpose.

There are times when we feel overwhelmed by the struggles and trials we are going through, but even in the midst of all this God will always lead us forward.

12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial which is trying you, as though some strange thing were happening to you,

1 Peter 4:12

Some people would like their life to be like one of those Netflix series in which their life goes by without any problems without any worries but the reality is totally different, especially the life of the Christian. In situations we experience different tests in life in which it seems like an exam to test our faith and above all the ability to trust in God.

In the text we have read, Peter is speaking of the times we experience trials as a period of "trial by fire" reminding us that God always works or allows things to happen in our lives for a purpose. And whatever is presented as a test, God will always help us to go through it in victory.

3 And not only so, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, trial; and trial, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Romans 5:3-5

What would God want for us in allowing us to go through the different trials? Below we will see some of the objectives that God may have in order not to remove us from the trials but to help us go through them.

Trials are that fiery furnace that, like a stone that enters the furnace, must be purified by fire to extract the gold that is in it. God often uses trials to cleanse our lives and bring us closer to Him.

There are difficulties that seem like the end to us, but for God it is a way of testing us, especially to exercise our faith. We also understand that in many cases, situations that are suffering for us, God is glorified because we demonstrate our dependence on His power. Our faith increases and helps us overcome those extremely difficult times. In turn, this encourages those around us to know the sustaining power of God and what He can do in their lives as well. This is what we commonly call the testimony of faith.

This and many other things God can do through trials. Ultimately, He is always helping us mature in faith and grow spiritually. Let us remember that we cannot neglect the study of His Word so that we can continue to grow spiritually day after day.
