JEALOUSY: Its Curse and Its Cure!

Jacob had a few family issues. One was the rivalry between his spouses, Leah and Rachel, and another was jealousy among his children. Jacob himself was partly at fault. He treated Joseph, a child of his most loved wife Rachel as his most loved child, and this stimulated the envy of alternate siblings.
Everyone has an inward feeling of justice, and we all really hate unequal treatment. It was not just the unique coat that Jacob made for Joseph that caused his siblings jealousy. Joseph additionally aggravated it by informing them about his dreams. Even Jacob was annoyed by the revelation that he, Joseph's dad,Joseph's mom and all his siblings would one day bow down before him.
At the point when Joseph left his dad's protection, his jealous brothers initially proposed to murder him, however their hatred was contented with offering him into slavery.

Jealousy is a strong feeling and powerful emotion. Solomon said;

"For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance."
Prov 6:34

Jealousy is powerful in the love shared between a man and woman. In the Song of Solomon the darling asks her sweetheart,

"Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame."
Solomon 8:6

In individuals, jealousy is one of the transgressions of the wicked nature, which is against the Spirit. If individuals live in jealousy without apology, they won't acquire endless life

Gal 5:19-21
19 "The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions
21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."

It is a typical sin in People who lacks spirituality. Since Isaac was successful, the Philistines begrudged him

Genesis 26:14
"For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him."

Therefore Christian individuals are unequivocally cautioned against envy and jealousy.

  • Sarah was jealous of Hagar when Hagar became pregnant.
  • Jealousy of Elkanah's adversary wife Peninnah caused Hannah severe distress.
  • Saul was progressively fixated on jealousy and suspicion of David and mistreated him.

"But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.
1 Samuel 16:14

  • In the case of Herod, murder, interest, and jealousy truly debilitated the Jewish state.
Herod's killing of the infant young men at Bethlehem was driven by jealousy about an a rival king of the Jews.

  • The senior brother in Jesus' parable about the prodigal son detested the loving father's thoughtful treatment of his younger sibling, and he gave no trace of an adjustment in his behavior. He refused even to call him his sibling.

Jealousy is a sin that rapidly disrupts the harmony of Christian congregation. Due to groups in the congregation at Corinth, Paul said, > "You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans?" 1 Cor 3:3

At the point when Paul composed his second letter to the Corinthians he said that he wanted to visit them again soon, however,

" For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder."
2 Cor 12:20

As a result of the proximity of the end, Paul cautioned the Christians at Rome specifically against three sets of risky sins. Jealousy one of the third part

"13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.
Rm 13:13

James, the sibling of the Lord, cautioned Christian individuals,

"But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth.
15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.
16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. " Jm 3:14-16

The Bible has an alot to say in regards to God's jealousy. It isn't sin in Him, however a part of his Holiness .
The essential idea is His refusal to endure rivals. In this sense, God is a jealous God, who won't endure the worship of different gods

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
Ex 20:5

God's jealousy defends His unique relationship with His people. He has an extreme enthusiasm, respect and honourvfor his people. The prophet Zechariah expressed,

So the angel who was speaking with me said, “Proclaim: The Lord of Armies says: I am extremely jealous for Jerusalem and Zion.
Zch. 1:14

God's jealousy is likewise a motivation behind why individuals must be mindful so as not to anger Him. It is a motive for His outrage.
"Jealousy" is likewise a term that alludes to God's remarkable association with His people. In his goodbye speech Joshua said to the Israelites

"You are not able to serve the LORD. He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins
Jos 24:19

At the season of Rehoboam, the general population of Judah constructed high places, sacrosanct stones, and Asherah posts for themselves on each high slope and under each verdant tree. There were indeed, even male cult whores in the land. They occupied with disgusting practices from the countries that the
Lord had driven out before the Israelites. 1 Kings stated:

"Judah did evil in the eyes of the Lord. By the sins they committed they stirred up his jealous anger more than those who were before them had done."
1 Kng 14:22

The solution for sinful jealousy is God's forgiveness for Jesus obedience and death in sinners' place. So what is the temperance that Christian individuals should imitate and develop?

  • It should be honest happiness about the accomplishments and achievements of others. In view of the original sin, such true joy does not come easily.Paul communicated this perfect when he expressed,

" Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,
4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."
Philippians 2:3-4

Jesus was deeply humiliated in the bible, this was driven by His want to reclaim individuals from all sin.
Thankfully in external life there will be no more jealousy with its detestable impacts. Despite the fact that some will do better than others there will be no jealousy to tarnish our happiness and joy over The success of others.
