In the book I Chronicles 4: 9-10, the Word of God tells the story of a man named Jabez, which means in Hebrew: Provocative pains. I imagine when his mother gave birth to him, in the midst of many pains, suffering, perhaps even hating the child that would come to be born.
For the Hebrews of the time, if the child had given life risk to the mother, they said that the child died and the mother lived. What a difficult situation for Jabez since his birth: he gave work to his mother, his name was a curse! Maybe he feels despised by the meaning of his name, alone and without any friend, he decided to change the meaning of his story in the moment he decided to look to God, to go to him. The Bible says that, by his prayer, God blessed him a lot and he got rid of all evil. His name, which was a curse, became the most illustrious among his brothers.
Unfortunately, many people look at the sorrows that are close to them, and forget that, at any time, they can change the course of their history. Like Jabez and looking at the example he gave, even with a curse name and despised by all those of that time, he did not look at the difficulty and did not value contempt: he went to God, and he prayed, for he I was sure that God heard it when nobody wanted to even see it. He had the certainty that the supreme being, creator of heaven and earth, would listen to him and change his history.
And you, who is going through a situation similar to that of Jabes: maybe you already said that your name is a curse, and that you are never going to win, that you have a devil that acts from generation to generation in your family, that you have to do the campaign of that or that to be liberated. Do not give up, do not listen to that! Go to God and call. Do your prayer and, with all your faith and trust, believe that God can change the course of your history and your life, breaking any kind of curse thrown or acquired in your life.
Jabez did not let himself be overcome by carelessness and loneliness, because his prayer was simple, but very powerful - he asked that the hand of God be with him. And if the hand of God went with him, he can also be with you, changing the curse into a blessing.
In this current world, many have isolated themselves due to a lack of trust in people. Depression and stress have been his company for a lifetime. And many even die without hope of better days, because they did not discover that there is a strong and supreme God to change all this.
Do not let yourself be defeated! Take a step forward. Do not give up, do not give the points to the devil, the Bible says that we have to resist the devil and he fled from us! Resist and overcome, that God is with you, He will transform curse into blessing.
Remember: life is a choice. What's your choice? Go to God or be conformed to what is happening around you, igniting what you were told?
Think about that, and get out of that curse place and go to God. Meditate on this passage of the Bible: Did not I send it? Be strong and brave; Do not fear, nor faint, for Jehovah your God will be with you wherever he goes (Joshua 1: 9).
Walking with God and addressing him is the best option. If you do not know how to do it, ask for help from the right people, someone you trust and who understands God and the Christian life, but do not isolate yourself. Life is an option.
