Abraham had a deep relationship with God, he was called "friend of God". He is a model of faith for the believer. Ge.15: 6 says "And he believed the Lord, and it was counted for righteousness" because he did not distrust the promises of the Lord. He understood that he is a Unique God and he adored him, but he also obeyed him. In His call, the Lord made several promises.
God would fulfill them if Abraham would commit himself to obey Him and trust Him. This would be his covenant and he would seal it with a corporal sign: circumcision. What is more intimate than the reproductive organ of the male; if it was multiplication of generations. Gé.17:9-14
In the New Covenant we Christians carry a sign in a certain visible way: baptism. When we believed, we testify before the world that we are now children of God, baptizing us for the death of the old man and the birth of the new man. In that rite we receive the Holy Spirit, we are baptized in the Spirit and He now lives in us as a sign of the presence of God. The sign of the covenant of grace is the Holy Spirit.
We said that the patriarch Abraham understood that Jehovah is the only God, he adored and obeyed him. Then the Lord made some promises.
WHAT DID GOD PROMISE ABRAHAM?
He promised to multiply it. Genesis 17: 1-7
If today we enjoy the peace offered by God's forgiveness, it is thanks to the faith of Abraham. If our family is converted and enjoys salvation it is as a result of the faith and dedication of this man of God, 4,000 years ago. In it all families would be blessed Ge.12: 1-3
To the Christian also the Lord promises to multiply it, because His Love is multiplying. He wants to multiply His Love in many. It multiplies us in three aspects: a) Christian virtues; b) Good actions, in a correct life; and c) New believers.
He promised a piece of land. Ge.17: 7
God gave a portion of land to Abraham and his descendants, which the Israelites claim today Ge.13: 14-18 / The possession of that portion is a promise of the Lord to Abraham Ge.15: 18-20
To the Christians he has promised us a "portion": a) On Earth, our family converted to Jesus Acts 16:31; b) In the Church, a specific mission Efe.4: 7,8); and c) In eternity Mat.25: 34
He promised a son to Sara. Ge.17: 15-19
He promised an heir to Abraham and Sarah. Both were old and she was sterile. Several biblical women suffered this evil: Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, Anna, Michal, Elizabet and others. The miracle of motherhood is produced mostly, after much prayer, tears and prayers, triumphing the mercy of the Lord. Ge.15: 1-7
We are sterile sinners like Sarah, but God makes us fertile and enables us to reproduce. Jesus promised "... Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men" Mk.1: 17. The reproduction that God promises us is spiritual, at least one person will be our spiritual son who will continue our work. God promises us fertility.
He promised to enrich his nation. Ge.15: 13-16
Prophecy about the 400 years in Egypt.
The greatest wealth of the Christian is in eternity Mat.6: 19-21. The material riches are corrupted and can easily be lost, the spiritual riches are brilliant and appreciated by God, they are kept clean and eternal in the memory of the Lord.
The most noteworthy are: a) Compassion Mat.25: 34.35 b) Generosity 2Co.9: 6 c) Evangelism Ro.10: 14,15 / Prov.11: 30
Abraham is the father of many nations. He was never born again but a righteous man according to his faith in God. Faith in God is one thing that's missing from all around the world. No wonder great men of these days defines faith to be God Himself.
In other to get all Abrahamic blessings we need faith. That's my submission.

You are right, we need faith to receive from God just like Abraham did and everyone who ever received from God
