LOVE OF MONEY

Love of money means placing money first in one's life. It means readiness to do anything,whether good or bad to get it. When one places undue emphasis on money or wealth or attaches oneself to it,it means one has excessive love for money and it has negative effects.

Many people nowadays prefer engaging in money rituals to get this money,but they forget that,every hidden things you do,opens up in public and you are left alone to face the repercussion. I wonder why most people's heart has been hardened to the extent of not listening to advice given to you. You will see some people suffering from the so called ritual they do,their end and how they regret,you also will want to try it just to have this money,they have forgotten that "whatever you sow,you reap." Not only that,you are also reserving your punishment for the next generation behind you,innocent people also partakes in such punishments.

DANGERS ATTACHED TO EXCESSIVE LOVE OF MONEY
Attaching much importance to money makes one to be desperate about it. Desperation to be wealthy or to make money can remove the fear of God in the person.
When one lacks the fear of God,one would want to make money through such evil means as killing,cheating,stealing,and deceit. Wealth acquired through evil ways is what i called ill-gotten wealth and in most cases does not last.

Attachment to money can destroy our relationship with God. God punishes those who do not fear Him in all they do. This is why armed robbers,killers and dupes are punished severely when they are caught.

When you are attached to money,this is what happens;
1 Removes fear of God in people
2 Makes them engage in the evils of killing,cheating,robbery etc.
3 Destroys relationship with God
4 Makes such people not to have eternal life.

This is also seen in the story of Jesus and a rich lawyer who came to ask him what he should do to gain eternal life. Jesus told him not to kill,not to commit adultery,not to bear false witness against his neighbour,to obey his father and mother,and love his neighbour as himself. And the lawyer answered and said that he had kept all those commandments. To test him to see if he attained perfection as he claimed,Jesus told him to go back home,sell all his possession and give the returns to the poor,so that he could be sure of eternal life. When the rich lawyer heard this,he went away very sad because he did not want to lose his possession for eternal life( Matthew 19:16-30

Wealth,when not properly handled,by having right attitude to it,can stand between us and God,and totally seperate us from Him.

Jesus concluded by saying that anybody who would not be ready to detach himself from wordly things for His sake or for the things of God,would not gain eternal life. Things of the world include money and other material things that would remove our mind from God. God must come first in our lives.

Jesus also warns us of covetousness. It also means greed or love of money,which seperates us from God.

RIGHT ATTITUDE TO MONEY
We should never forget that God as our creator is the controller of life and anything about it including money. He is the one that determines how long our wealth lasts and how long we live. We should therefore not allow money to seperate us from Him.
We have to detach ourselves. This means that we should not attach too much importance to money so that they would not affect our relationship with God.
Money is necessary for our life. We should work hard and exercise moderation in our struggle for it. We do not have to make money by all means. We should desire money to buy things that we need,but if we cannot afford them,we do not have to be desperate,we should believe that God's time is the best.

It is greed to desperately want to get something we cannot afford,it is also greed to desire something we do not need or spend money on them,just to show off or because others have acquired them.

We must understand that the most important thing about life is not money,it is our relationship with God. We must not let anything destroy that relationship,so that we can gain eternal life.
