Stemchurch - Day # 3 : Blessed are the meek because they will receive the land for inheritance

in steemchurch •  6 years ago

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.

This bliss is related to an attribute of the human being that springs up in response to the condition of spiritual poverty, in which, with a humiliated heart, one receives the forgiveness of sins and the consolation of God.

Jesus Christ said blessed the meek, while in our world a meek is cataloged as a person with weak character, who has no authority, who lacks leadership and even little productive.

  • Given such circumstances of everyday life, how can a meek face the injustices of this world and be happy?

Biblically, the word meek means to have a peaceful spirit with a self-control that is only received from God through the Holy Spirit.

To be meek is to have the power of the Holy Spirit, to be comprehensible to others, and are fruits of it: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faith, kindness, temperance, and above all meekness.

The man who practices meekness is happy because the Holy Spirit is in his heart, avoids arguments, violence, outrage towards the other and even more forgives the one who offends him.

All these qualities make the meek obedient before the will of God, for this he receives his blessing that results in his happiness.

Jesus Christ teaches us that all devotion to God has its reward, and in this case, blessed are the meek because they will inherit the land.

This inheritance of the earth, is not linked to a material possession, but goes further, since practicing meekness you get intangible goods not only enrich the spirit but also constitute the most divine treasures that God promises.

Blessed are the meek because they will inherit the earth, in other words, inherit the eternal and heavenly blessing of the kingdom of heaven.

"Blessed are the meek, for they shall receive the land for an inheritance." Matthew 5: 5

Jesus, as we have already said, is overthrowing the ideas that the Jews had regarding the kingdom: an earthly kingdom that by force would overthrow its enemies. They thought in terms of conquest and struggle in a material sense, and that is why our Lord discards this immediately. "Those who will inherit the earth are not the roughest savages, says Jesus, but the meek ones." This is opposite to all the values of the world.
We have also said that there is a logical connection between these Beatitudes, and this follows from what has been spoken before. It begins with the "poor in spirit", this in turn leads us to a condition of contrition when we realize our sins; and as a consequence it leads us to this spirit of meekness. All these beatitudes are related and do not describe different people, but the true disciple of Christ.
Jesus declares that those who will inherit the earth are the meek ones, but are not those who reach power the harshest, hardest and strongest? Are not the meek ones considered weak? What kind of meekness is Jesus talking about and what are the blessings for being like that?

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance; Against such things there is no law. "Galatians 5:22, 23

It is the work of God in the heart of man that makes someone who can be the most rebellious and coarse person become docile, with a heart that is left to correct and mold by God.
It is someone who has come to understand what is inside and then acts accordingly with God and with others.
In the words of John Stott, this meekness denotes a tender and humble attitude towards (God and others) that is determined by a real estimation of ourselves.
I repeat, it begins with the "poor in spirit" which in turn leads to a condition of sorrow when we realize our sins ("those who mourn"); and this in turn leads to this spirit of meekness.

Meaning:

"... consists not only in the external behavior of the person; nor in his relations with his peers; it is not merely about its natural disposition. Rather it is a work done in the soul; and it is exercised first and foremost with God. It is that disposition of spirit with which we accept their dealings with us as good, and therefore without discussing or resisting them. This term is closely related to the word "humility", and is a direct consequence of it .

"Wherefore, casting off all filthiness and abundance of malice, receive with meekness (with a teachable spirit) the implanted word, which can save your souls." James 1:21

The proud does not allow himself to be molded by God, but his decision is to continue living under his own resolutions. He has put his "I" on high, even above God. On the other hand the meek accepts God's dealings without a complaining spirit. When we have a proper vision of ourselves, and are aware of our sinfulness (poor in spirit), it is when we accept any treatment of God as good and necessary. If we have sincerely acknowledged our condition before Him, we desperately need His treatment, whatever it may be.

But in addition, to have accepted our condition before Him, to mourn it and to have become so tame, has its consequences in our relationship with others.
I explain myself better: we have gentleness towards God, since we recognize the absolute necessity of His help and guidance. And meekness towards others having eliminated any kind of pride recognizing our real condition. When this is so, who can offend us? Is not the injured "I" the cause of most offenses?
This Greek word (prautes) means "power under control" and was used to talk about a colt that had been tamed. The colt still has the same strength but is a controlled force. That is to say, not that the believer is meek because he can not defend himself, but that he is meek because he has the infinite resources of God at his disposal.

The evangelical 'meekness' I think it refers to have a firm character, consistent with the gospel we try to live. Jesus tells us through Saint John: 'Do not let your heart be troubled'. (Jn 14, 1, 27).

Well said brother! Meekness is not weakness, on the contrary! it is self-control, it is thinking and acting with intelligence. God bless you more
