This is an update to the voting policy of the SteemCityNiigata account.

As you may or may not know, this is a joint account that is shared by members who are living in Niigata, Japan. Any Steemian living in this area can have access to the account’s posting key and is allowed to use this account for making individual posts, resteeming content that is related to the group and its members, and for directly contributing to collaborative posts by editing them (adding his/her contribution to the post directly).

While any member of SteemCityNiigata has the ability to create and post content on the group’s blog, only vested members (members who have contributed Steem to this group’s account) are allowed to use the account’s voting privileges. Previously, the voting policy of this account was described as being proportional to a member’s vested stake in the account, meaning that a person with a 10% stake in the account would be able to vote once a day using only 10% of the account’s voting power.

For simplicity’s sake, we would like to change this policy so that it is no longer related to stake. Using 10 as the number of full-power votes that this account can issue each day, these votes will now be divided evenly among vested members.

At the moment, there are four vested members in this group. That means that each member can currently vote with this account in any denomination that adds up to two full-power votes and one half-power (50%) vote a day. For example, a member could vote twenty-five times in one day at 10% voting strength. Or, he/she could vote four times in one day at 25% voting strength and one time at 50% voting strength, etc.

We believe that this change will make it easier for all vested members in this group to vote responsibly, and we will make announcements in the future when the number of vested members in this group changes so that each member knows how many (or what percentage of) votes he/she has access to.

As the number of vested members grows, the voting privileges of this account will decrease. However, that doesn’t mean that vested members cannot give, grant usage of, trade, or allot their number/percentage of votes to other members. Any voluntary agreements and exchanges between two or more vested members of this account are encouraged. We may very well see that a majority of vested members prefer to delegate their votes to one or two vested members who express interest in being the group’s curators. Time will tell.

At the moment, each vested member has the privilege of using two-and-a-half full votes per day.
