Very cool initiative. I, unfortunately, have a hell of a lot of swatting up to do on cryptography before I would ever be able to take part, but, I am excited to follow this.

Honestly, there is so much out there it is hard to narrow down the field to just one source. I've al and found for my students Khan, despite many flaws, is a great intro point for future exploration. Here is a series of videos over the same cypher utilized for this puzzle. Happy studies!
