The Deconstruction: 28 July 2017.
....................................................................................................................................................................

what once looked like this.
.

now looks like this.
.

the rotted part of the bulkhead between the cabin and the engine will has been removed
.

the engine well has pretty much been cleaned out.
the boards are used to support a step ladder..
.

from inside the cabin.
.

looking the other way.
.
there is standing water in that hole.
Either the boat was sunk or allowed to get water inside somehow...perhaps rain.
Either way...all the wood is rotted and has to come out.
That OLD foam is brittle and extremely lightweight.
I'm taking it all out.
I'm scooping it out with a shovel like snow.
.

but not today.

You've got it pretty well gutted, but that heat is rough to work in. You're making progress Everitt! Do you have a time frame for when you think she'll be sea worthy?

nope...I'm taking a little bit at a time.
no idea when I'll be done.

What year and size is that looks like late 70's early 80's

1972...24ft long x 8 wide

Can't wait till I see it completed. Love restauration projects.

I'm not restoring it as such. I intend to modify it a LOT.

Let's see the outcome. When do you plan to launch it on water?

no idea but it won't be any time soon.

Wow, sounds like a lot more work than you might have thought. I'm sure there are going to be some other surprises along the way though...
Eventually you'll look back and know it's all with it 😁👍🏻

I expected it.
All I wanted was a good sound fiberglass hull. I got that.
I'm rebuilding it from the inside out the way I want it to be.
(If I could just figure out what that is)

Haha - you'll figure it out 😉

Your deconstruction is coming along nicely. Rotten wood can be discouraging.
So I thought about you and Miss SteemDreem and took a look around. I found something that may be of use, both structurally and to assist float-ability in the rebuild:

Foam that floats
Unsinkable aluminum foam:

The middle example appears to have structural uses across the span you are working with. Especially if bonded to her wrapped with glass cloth and resin.
Do you think this might be helpful ?

oh yeah...I've been looking at box channel aluminium for the motor mount...THIS might work for the internal spars and stringers..

thanks..
