Visiting Portugal 101

in steemfest •  7 years ago

#steemfest visitors who have never been to Portugal should check out my posts about the country.

They are written from the perspective of a North American visitor, and focus mostly on the Algarve, about 3 hours south of Lisbon, but they do have a lot of general information about language, culture and so on which might help you. And who knows they might encourage you to visit places outside Lisbon.

FYI we visit in Feb.-April so the weather I talk about will be about the same as you'll find in Lisbon in a couple of weeks.

The coastline region both North and South of Lisbon seems like it has a lot to offer. You've likely been to Cascais and Sintra?

Sintra is just great (speaking as a fan of castles) since they have the Moorish Castle and a few other castle\palace locations with great views.

Actually those are the 2 places at the top of our to-do list when we return. We did a 10 day roadtrip north through Alentejo to Douro, on to Porto, then Coimbra, but ran out of time. Have to post that trip soon when I finish New Zealand. Cheers...

Very nice. For Sintra I highly recommend:
