Hi all,
I have been following Gameforge (a German based Free2Play - Publisher) for quite a bit and I am especially looking forward to playing Soulworker Open Beta, soon. The game has been released in Korea and Japan and Gameforge will start the official service for Europe and Northern America soon. On the official Facebook page Gameforge announced the forums are opened up and the Beta is right around the corner.
I already had the opportunity to play the game during Gamescom and I have to say, I liked it very much. Actually, I am not the biggest Anime fan around, but playing Soulworker changed my mind in some regards.
The game is very easy to learn and arcade style action based. Of course, later on there is plenty of optimization and it is getting tougher, but you can play the game with up to three friends. For raid content, there will be even more players in the group, slaying the dark forces, that try to extinguish life on earth as we know it.
The characters - the Soulworkers, equipped with superpowers, look amazing and have completed different optics and playstyles. If you ever wanted to defeat hordes of enemies with a death-bringing guitar, now is your chance.
Soulworker is not an open world adventure, all dungeons are instance-based. 4 major cities are the hubs where you find new quests as you progress through the game and meet the other Soulworkers during their playtime. There you also upgrade, craft or polish your gear and weapons, lern new skills or enjoy a new pair of pants or a well-fitting skirt. Plenty of cosmetic items make individual appearance easy.
The dungeons are quite diverse. You fight against puppets, machines, soldiers, animals, aliens, basically all opponent types you can think of. Each dungeon set has its own visuals and differs quite a lot from previous dungeons. You can choose where to spend your time, since after completing a specific quest, you are free to replay any dungeon you like. During my 30 minutes of playtime at Gamescom, I saw quite a lot variety that makes me yearn for more. But soon you also can find out by yourself, if the game is worthwhile for you.
Gameforge also released a Gameplay trailer on Youtube during Gamescom for those of you who didn't see it, here it is:
As soon as the Beta starts, I will record some gameplay videos myself and share with you. Can't wait to show you some of my favorite parts of the game and get to max level quickly ;)
Cheers!
