STEEM GEO: Mission #4 // share a photo of your amazon shopping basket and value right now! :)

in steemgeo •  7 years ago  (edited)

if not stated some of my photos are from unsplash a free site for images, also you can grab some cool images from nomad.pictures a site i run with @dayleeo to get pictures out of the camera roll and onto the web

i’m happy to accept that i have a problem with putting things into a virtual basket in the hope that i have funds in another account to be able to do the exchange in goods. i want to share my basket that normally existed walled away in the amazon silo. do you leave things in virtual baskets?

today’s MISSION, if you choose to accept it my steemgeo bunch is to share any virtual basket (i’m thinking amazon is the best one) that you have something in right now and i’d love to know why it’s sitting there, how much the value of the items total up to and why each item is in there, what’s the logic behind leaving them there? i’ve got thousands of items from amazon saved in ‘save for later’ that i’m sure amazon has a warehouse just for me ready to drop all my hopes and dreams at a moments notice. i’m sure the guy that is waiting to press the GO button is called dave. just saying.

so what’s in my virtual basket and why?! :) — the current total of the basket? - £863!!!!! LOL ;)

i wanted to explain why i have these items just sitting there, i think secretly i’ve got a virtual shopping problem, i’m addicted to making plans, mapping out futures of what that might bring me if i had x, y and z. so i stick them there, in between ordering coffee and such like. the awesome thing about prime is that i can have things sent to a local post office or an amazon locker, i don’t even need a physical address anymore. that’s not to say you can get everything because you can’t — the majority of things however you can and that’s good enough for me.

THE ITEMS. . ..

Under desk computer keyboard tray with mouse tray, shelf, sliding drawer complete kit - Black by GTV - £15.29

fifteen pounds worth of plastic, screws and metal to give me a little shelf to put my wireless keyboard and mouse on, aka standing desk. i’ve got two screens with one above my iMac and i realised that for fairly cheaply i could mount a draw under it and work standing up which i’m dying to do because i sit down for far too long each day.

WECODO SD Card Camera Reader with 2 IN 1 Micro USB and Lightning Connector Compatible for IOS 10.3 iPhone iPad and Android Phone Tablet - £11.99

it might not work, again, it’s cheap ass plastic electronics probably from china but i need a way to get photos from my SD card quickly and instead of spending major dollar on a wireless one this would be a good half way house when mobile - i want to be in a situation where my iPad becomes my photo editing station (the new iPad would work a treat) so i need a way to get photos from my pocket camera which i use for snaps and instead of pulling out a super pricy computer in the street. i also wan this to do a little course on process for mobile blogging ;)

Verbatim 49160 MediaShare Mini Wireless MicroSD Card Reader - Black by Verbatim - £22.99

for the blog piece and to test and try, this is the cheapest option i could find for doing wireless micros card transfers, ideally this would work for instance with a gopro for transferring content across wireless to an app and into my camera roll allowing me to do mini video edits again on the go centered around being completely mobile in operation. i wanted to get this as a comparison about the extra time involved compared to just a cable version, i’d test each for 30 days and send back whichever worked better.

Waveshare Raspberry Pi Zero V1.3 Camera Cable 30cm Dimension: 300.0mm x 16.0mm x 0.2mm - £6.99

i run a little project raspberry pi cctv camera system. it works pretty great on a raspberry pi zero w but i really need the pi 3 running because it’s got more grunt and allows the camera to be more higher resolution, also i need the clarity to start using some of the machine learning features ;) - more on that very soon.

ASUS ROG GL552VW-DM195T 15.6 inch FHD Gaming Laptop (Intel i5-6300HQ, 8 GB DDR4 RAM, 128 GB SSD + 1 TB, Nvidia GTX960M 2 GB GDDR5, Windows 10, Includes Gaming Backpack, Headset, Mouse) - £700

the most expensive item in the shopping cart right now but i need a laptop, i’ve got a MacBook pro that’s dead in the water and needs repairs and that is going to be the first port of call to get fixed, it’s an unknown cost thou and i can see myself throwing a few hundred at it for a new logic board and updated ssd drive. this machine would give me a second machine for gaming and streaming and also enable me to be away from base camp more, i write better then i’m in a different space, coffee shops and such like.

Waveshare RPi NoIR Camera V2 Official Raspebrry Pi Camera Module Kit 8mp Sony IMX219 Sensor 1080p30 Supports Night Vision for all revisions of the Raspebrry Pi - £22

yes, you read write, this is a no IR camera, that means you get really trippy day time infra red looking pictures but at night it’s much better for low light and night time shots, i just wanna give it ago from the standard v2.1 of the raspberry pi camera which is good but not great - that being sad it’s a fairly cheap setup to have a bunch of these pi zeros as cctv all across your house or apartment or even wifi/solar powered caravan! :)

Logitech K400 Plus Wireless Touch Keyboard for Windows, Android and Chrome - QWERTY, UK Layout, Black - £25

need a solution for my backup raspberry pi3, i have a gaming keyboard on my main machine and a wireless apple keyboard that i use on both, i’d like to have a dedicated unit combined with a mousepad to control the xmbc player and write on the other screen while i’m watching old re-runs and movies, it’s never a bad thing to have a backup keyboard and mouse! :)

Avantree aptX LOW LATENCY Driver-Free Bluetooth Audio Adapter Transmitter, USB Dongle for PC PS4 Linux Mac, Real Time Movie & Games [2 Year Warranty] - £26

this is a bit of a punt if i’m honest. i’m trying to hook up a bluetooth headset to use in a mobility sense, i want to be able to use a remote bluetooth headset away from the machine so i’ve hooked up a class1 transmitted at the end of a long cable away from the computer and i’m putting it up high away from the machine to give me some distance.

Munchy Seeds Chilli Mix 25 g (Pack of 24) - £20

hahahah, don’t judge. i know it’s COMPLETELY random from everything else on the list but i like seeds, these seeds tasty great and it’s better than firing a massive pack of biscuits down my neck full of sugar, super snacks for late night watching of my favourite series. hahahah, can’t believe i’ve shared my amazon basket with you! :

huh? wait, what’s #steemgeo again?

in short #steemgeo is engagement micro tasks -- comments or maybe even blogs. you might have gotten onto steemit recently or are just pulling a blank today what to write about. i wanted to build a remote present audience in by creating little micro tasks we can all do quite easily to reach out and connect a little better. i find that sometimes the discords, chat sites and forums can be a little overwhelming, this way you can post a little snippit and be out, if your not the camera or audio confident, that's fine - just leave a comment below! :)

don’t forget to check out episode one and two and [three]( - please take part, i love to hear back from people, i’ll be adding every microtask to this little list! :)

all welcome! :)

these little micro tasks are to give you something to engage with, maybe write a post around, give you a creative nudge in the right direction, open up a conversation, share a micro digital moment together, steem geo is about creating audience development globally from a steemit blog post, i hope you’ll join in! :)

Haha, soo this exercise made me realize that I sneak practical and useful things in with absolute bullshit like Totoro pants, hoping they'll hitch a ride when I'm making an actual justified purchase. Ya know. As long as we're being honest with ourselves...

lol, the things we consume eh? - i think the totoro leggings are must thou.

Agreed. Think we could crowd fund that? ;)

leggings? probably not! :) might be good to make a site for legging for steem user names thou like http://beeb.ee :)

Oooohhhh yep yep I see u!

Nice grocery basket stock photo. I used the same one on a site I was working on. Lol.
