How to have a retentive memory

Memory is a complicated process that’s made up of a few different brain activities . Here’s a simplified versionto helpus understand how the process takes place:

  1. Creating a memory
Our brain sends signals in a particular pattern associated with the event we’re experiencing and creates connections between our neurons, called synapses.
  2. Consolidating the memory
If we didn’tdoanything further, that memory would fall right out of our headsagain. Consolidation is the processof committing it to long-term memory so we can recall it later. A lot of this processhappens while we’re sleeping , as our brains recreate thatsame pattern of brain activity tostrengthen the synapses wecreated earlier.
  3. Recalling the memory
This is what most of usthink of when we talkabout memory, or especially memory loss. Recalling the memory is easier if it’sbeen strengthened over time, and each timewe doso, werun through thatsame patternof brain activityagain, making it a little stronger.
Memory loss is a normal part of aging, but thatdoesn’tmean we can’ttake action toslow it down a little.Let’stake a look atsome of the ways research has found to keep our memories around as long as possible.

Here are the foods that can help in having retentive memory :

1.Fish is your best source of omega-3 fatty acids, the primary components of the brain, retina and other nerve tissue. Studies have shown that omega-3 fatty acids boost ability, improve problem solving skills and boost memory power and enhance communication between brain cells.

2.Colourful and citrus fruits :Eat fruits with all the rainbow and a few more, and you are guaranteed to improve your brain power. Avocados are especially potent in increasing blood flow to the brain because of their momo-unsaturated fat content.

3.Chocolate :Chocolate is not only delicious, its also beneficial to your brain and can help enhance your mood.

Natural stimulants boost the production of endorphins that improve focus and concentration. Milk chocolate has been shown to improve verbal and visual memory and boost impulse control and reaction time. Dark chocolate is rich in flavonols that boost blood supply to the brain and help improve cognitive skills. IMG_20180501_114920.jpg
