Los Angeles, CA got the first Earthquake early warning system app in the United States, capable of detecting earthquakes before they hit to help save lives. Hopefully in the future more cities will implement this technology.
The app is available in English and Spanish in the Apple store as well as the Google Play store.
ShakeAlertLA is designed to give users a warning sound for earthquakes of 5.0 magnitude or larger.
The alert is only seconds in advance but those seconds could be very important in being able to get out of a building or to get to a safe place to drop, get cover and hold on. Even a 30 second warning would be enough to grab your children and get cover or get out.
ShakeAlertLA was developed by the City of Los Angeles with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

I wrote that whole thing myself just because the same facts are on the website doesn’t make it plagiarism. Where did I copy and paste? I said it’s available in English and Spanish and available at Apple store and Google play store and who created the app. Thats stating facts. As for the description its all in my own words.

Yeah I got 3 kids. I live in Los Angeles systems like this in place can save lives. Definitely makes me feal a little better. This is not a maybe a earthquake is coming system when it’s imminent earthquake about to hit over 5.0 magnitude. You hear a warning sound similar to amber alerts in the US. I think its awesome and every large city on fault lines should have a system like this in place. Would of saved lives in Japan and so many more places over the last few years. Larger earthquake are being more of a norm.

I think it will not work because no one can get before signal of earthquake. This is a natural calamity. But if it's work finally then it'll be great invention. More earthquake gripped area will be more helpful.

It does work 100% tested and fully functional. Created by the USGS and City of Los Angeles and our fellow STEEMian here said they have a similar app in New Zealand also.

Didn’t know they had one in New Zealand every place that has frequent earthquakes should have this system in place. This one was just released for public use beginning of the year but has been in beta version for about a yr.

Definitely agree with you. Larger earthquakes, bigger storms, longer droughts, wild fires etc. always like seeing new tech to help us keep ourselves and family safe.
