Air transport makes up about 3% of all greenhouse gases produced by European Union countries. Becouse of thet we need to do something to make the aircraft more "clean". Ludwig Prandtl, considered to be the father of aerodynamics, imagined the wing in a different form than usual in
year 1924 and calculated that it had a smaller air resistance and was aerodynamically more effective. And what's the difference? The fact that the airplane does not have two wings but one, the so-called closed wing is "around the airplane". Such a design means a lower airborne quotient, which results is a less fuel consumed, which is best known for take-off and landing, when aircraft engines suffer the most, and therefore the consumption and thus the emissions are the highest. The project is aimed primarily at mid-size airplanes, with the aim, in addition to reducing emissions, to increase the number of passengers from the current 180 to 310 (average). The team's task is to produce an airplane with the same wingspan as the Airbus A320 or Boeing B737, but with the capacity of larger Airbus 330 or Boeing 767 aircraft. The team that develops the project has persuaded the EU with the idea, because it has recently donated this project, 3 million €, for further research.
