This looks great, and I'm sure it will help teach kids - because anything slightly out of the ordinary, which gets their attention is a good thing.
But...and don't get me wrong here, I'm not being overly-critical of this app...I think that we're looking at this as adults who're not used to AR and imagining how awesome this would've been when we were kids & learning the alphabet. Which (for me at least) would have looked like something from the future, or science fiction.
Kids nowadays are eperiencing new tech more and more, with many 4 or 5 year olds having regular access to YouTube, iPads, a console of some description and possible having experienced or seen something in AR/VR. This is at least the case in the UK (where I'm from), and I suspect is the same in many developed countries.
So, while this is a good learning tool, and I do like it, I'd have to say that it's probable not as awesome to its target audience as we might think.
