What are Smart Media Tokens?

  • A Smart Media Token (SMT) is a native digital asset on the Steem blockchain that can be quickly launched by anyone to help monetize online content and create incentives to encourage desired user behavior.

  • They're like Ethereum's ERC-20 tokens, but with certain built-in ‘Proof-of-Brain’ properties and a token distribution reward system designed specifically for digital content businesses.

Steemit announces release date for SMT

On January 15, 2019, the TestNet of the SMT protocol will be released. The protocol itself will be released on the MainNet on March 24, 2019, in honor of the anniversary of the first block ever produced on Steem.

    yes SMT will be the future in Steem and those how have steempower can enjoy the benefits of SMT. I think it Steem will get more valuable once SMT is fully operational

    This is big for STEEM. SMT are great thing, and there are alredy apps that started projects that award users. Can wait for all of this to start. But a little patiance is needed.

          This has been a long time coming. Announced almost a year ago. Should be very good for Steemit! Can't wait for launch.
