i'm always interested in this next data arms race, that is AI and face recognition, some of these systems are crazy good now that not only can they see you in a crowd they can add attributes to you in real time - imagine if they started to pull from steem blockchain data sentiment analyse as well.

i'm sure the security of these companies is garbage as well, if their name of image files on their website is anything to go by.

regardless, they just had a $600 million series funding investment - the worlds highest AI investment ever -- https://techcrunch.com/2018/04/08/sensetime-raises-600-million which is kinda nuts when you think about it -- six hundred million dollars for AI and surveillance, sounds a little bit UMBRELLA CORP to me! :)

how good is the current model they have?

• Face Recognition of over 1,000 real-time surveillance video streams
• Traces the route of certain targets in a billion-scaled database of face image capture record
• Surveillance task setting of up to 200,000 targets
• Target retrieval from a database of hundreds of millions face capture images
• Flexible surveillance task setting regarding different time, places and targets
• Distributed deployment of GPU clusters

that last one is an interesting one. .. i wonder how long it takes before someone puts malware in there when the system is less busy and mines crypto currency with their oversized power hungry cluster? :)
