Depending on your HVAC system, there may be many different ways to install a smart thermostat.Before you attempt the installation on your own, hire an expert electrician to handle the task or answer any questions.
Having said that, the procedure for setting up each smart thermostat I tested is pretty much the same from start to finish.It's a simple DIY project if you know your way around basic electrical work and whether your system works with the model you want to buy.
For a basic overview of the installation process, see my article on installing the Nest Thermostat. However, keep in mind that it may differ depending on your home's system.
