I came here on the advice of my "Crypto-Mentor" STAN (not Larimer) who said I should be on Steemit as opposed to just blogging and on bbs BS. It was a great move! 😁 Here are some of the "accomplishments" I have had in this time, in somewhat chronological order...
- Joined up on May 11, 2017 and posted sparsely at first.
- Quickly saw that I need more SP and moved about 1 BTC into Steem Power over that summer, average buy in of 90¢ or so.
- Started noticing that I was getting consistent votes, but few comments??? 🤔 🤨
- Learned about auto-voting and started trying to bolster my feedback.
- Learned of Discord in there somewhere LOL 🤣 Also met the Fabulous @BATTLEAXE in my travels... 😉
- Met the IMPRESSIVE 1kSP Program of @taskmaster4450 through the fantastic @overkillcoin who was doing the program with his own protégé. I obtained permission to join as a mentor and ALMOST DID NOT select @spiritualmax as my first "victim" 😅 The rest is History...
- Hovering around 3500 SP and feeling rather "dolphin-Y" I made it a goal to become an actual Dolphin by 2018, and started scheming and planning. Steem was not very well coupled to BTC at that time so I bought BTC in order to catch the gains that it promised. Good Move! I was on Coinbase the morning that BTC hit 20k and tried to sell at 20k, but coinbase was DOWN!!! I took some screenshots and went to work, hoping it kept running UP. To no avail, it crashed. I did at least catch a bounce and sold all my BTC at 17k and bought STEEM!!! That put me into the 4900 SP range and I busted my A$$ to make 5000 by 1-1-18 and it happened exactly on that date!
DOLPHIN IN 235 DAYS 🤩 🐬
- I took to calling this the "BRUTE FORCE METHOD" which was WAY More Popular when Steem was CHEAP ;)

I wasn't aware of Steemit an year ago, or rather I saw a post once but ignored the heck out of it. It's not until I saw it again this year that I took interest. I am super amazed at your steady yet consistent growth. It only makes me feel motivated the more to start scribbling my game plan to achieve what you have in the same amount of time.
Four months in so I have about 8 more to go. I am not discouraged or disheartened I haven't achieved much so far, it's testimonials like yours that keeps us moving!!

Well, it takes tons of writing and Fiat Invested, but some have done it with less Fiat and a lot more writing and content! I cite the "Brute Force Method" above, but do to timely buying I am maybe at $2500 or less invested total.

I'm already really glad I did that, the Steem Price increase lagged the BTC run-up, and I actually bought in at $1.25 and it spiked at over $8... then back down LOL!!!

Well, I am kind of poor at market timing, so I am buying now while I have the Cash. BUT, I think I will hit a good average buy price because I expect this to turn up pretty soon. PLUS, Steem is one unique coin in that it pays you to HODL more of it, and as the coin "inflates", you actually get MORE in your account as they grow at the annually decreasing inflation rate. I think this year is 9.0%? It decreases by .5% each year until like 2035 or so then it will be re-evaluated. BUT, unlike Fiat Inflation, this STEEM-Flation goes into ypur account instead of your coins becoming worth less as more are issued and SOLD. Like the U$D Inflation does. THIS is so much Better!

Congrats @underground. I have to get some clarification and maybe you can help. What are the official or unofficial categories and what are the cutoffs or SP levels that allow you to reach each. I know the start is plankton with minnow next, at what SP level are you a minnow, and then when are you a dolphin, etc. Thanks

Officially all there are is just Minnow, Dolphin, and Whale, but the terms Orca and Plankton are gaining in popularity and also "redfish"
Seems to me that
Plankton is 15 to 250
Redfish = 250 to 500
Minnow is 500 to 5000
Dolphin is 5000 to 100,000
Whale is 100k and Up
I think they have slotted the Orca in around 20,000 or so but not sure...
not sure, maybe there are other figures, seems it is still evolving
