This Monday @jnmarteau came to the Hug Inn Vienna to host a @globalschool session with his five students who are specialized in #photography. Stay tuned for their updates! 🙋

During the day I tried with his help the first time the steembot tracker:

https://steembottracker.com/

And bid to the following bots:

@smartsteem, @upmewhale, @postpromoter and @sneaky-ninja.

I spend 32 STD and earned votes in the value of ca. 66 (before curation / 50% in steempower).

One of the two promoted posts is now on the top of the #Airbnb category. It is getting more visibility and the news are received by a larger audience. I guess the steembot tracker bidding/ voting system is a way to invest in #steempower and #promotion. It would be nice if this mechanism will be more accessible for relevant newbies and other steemians with rich content. But if the powerful whales are just bidding themselves and vote only their own content it is not a way to promote the growth or the success of the platform. Then it is not really usable for the larger #community and its future members.

So what are your experiences with voting bots?

I am interested in your advice as I am reading a lot of posts mentioning the importance of knowing about this topic. Thank you for your support and reply. I am following everybody who is interacting with me. I see everything! 😉

The only problems i find with them are:

  1. They are not moderated- everything can be upvoted no matter if its quality oder shitty content. Like this a lot of useless posts go in trending page and no quality usefull content is shown.(i know about blacklisting but it should be better)
  2. Another problem is that they are overused and the ROI is negative most of the times.
  3. People are stupid and send money to the bots even though they see its already negative ROI and they make everyone lose.

But overall they are good if you want to promote your post. Maybe having more bots likes this can fix some problems.

I like your reply, yes the problem or better the solution is within the democratization of the bots. I believe the powerful accounts are sharing their voting power for curation throught this mechanism and its great if its accessible to everyone :)

Thank you for your reply. I agree with your points. Let's see what the others think about it. 👍

Nice article, I was happy to contribute today with the globalschool to your discovery and first steps with upvoting bots, and I am glad if it helped you to exprience a new method of promotion and eventually earning. A lot to say about the bots, their usage and politics around their usage, I'll do my best to post soon about it! Thanks again for your nice article, your hosting and mention! Keep the good work, best, Jean =)

Thank you for your help and dedication implementing the @globalschool sessions. You are doing a great job, too! 💛 💜 💚
