Candy Child / Tricky Teenager

in steemit-drama •  8 years ago  (edited)

Mom:
"Dear son.. here's a bag of candies. I trust you to distribute it fairly to other kids your age. Spread happiness, my dear child."

Child:
"Sure, momma.. can I eat 1 candy for every 10 that I give out? Need.. calories.."

Mom:
"Sure.. son. You know your biology. I trust your judgement."

Child walks around the neighbourhood distributing candies.. when he stumbled upon one of the neighbourhood's teenager.

Teenager:
"I know what you've been doing you greedy son of a.. mom. I have a better idea of what to do with those candies."

Child:
"??????"

This post is not meant to create division among the community. I know most of us want what's best for the network. Also, the candy situation isn't all that isolated in Steemit's context since everybody is affected in some way. But I hope you understand the gist of it..

What if the child starts taking 5 candies on every 10 he distributes? :D Would momma be happy?
I cannot say what is happening in Steemit exactly (I have not talked with anyone personally or have access to their minds), but theoretically, there is a big difference between doing good to get even better for yourself, and doing good because you feel people deserve good. At least my moral compass is saying so.
Just thought to throw this comment and make this simplified model look more complex. Cheers!

Well that's of course a problem then :)

Sweet...

Ah, you must give in order to receive; all-in-all not a bad idea, but who do you give to? only the deserving, or any old slump who needs a hand up. How about giving only to those who will give in return; better yet, just how about giving just for the sake of giving.

I love what you're publishing Kevin. Next time, may I propose you burn the amount of SBD instead of refusing the reward. I think it's preferable. It won't discourage people to vote for your post and for the rest of the equations the results will be the same. Just don't forget to mention it in the post if you chose to go that route.
