Warning .. Acidity drugs may lead to premature death

in steemit-health •  7 years ago

Researchers have warned against the use of anti-stomach drugs frequently, indicating that it may increase the risk of premature death.

Previous studies have linked acidity drugs, known as proton pump inhibitors or PPIs, to kidney damage, bone fractures and dementia.

The study focused on 275,000 people taking proton pump inhibitors, as well as 75,000 people taking another type of antacid, known as histamine 2 or H2 blockers, the Telegraph website reported.

The study found that the risk of premature death increased by 25 percent in patients who use PPI than others who use H2 blockers.

The researchers called on people with acidity to take medication moderately with a permanent doctor and stop taking it if the condition improves.

nice post fri

Was none of that clear before? Pretty sure this isn't new information...

Then you are a better informed person than I, @chomplicated. :c)

Of course, what is common knowledge for you or me doesn't necessarily make it new information for others.

I have a question. :c)

By 'anti-stomach drugs' are you actually referring to what are commonly termed 'anti-acids'?

If so then I was not aware.

Fortunately I find that some milk does well enough to quieten discomfort of the sort.
